COH is just some typical overhyped RTS game.Gets very boring quickly.Company Of Heroes sucks compared to this.In this aside from vanilla RTS games, you can control units directly, salvage and use gear off the dead, fix and control vehicles.Soldiers Heroes Of WW2 was the first game in the Men Of War series.Get them all, they are great.

It's obviously not for everyone. The mission where you need to hold off the German assault while loading the train really ticked me off. I think I tried that mission at least 5 times before giving up.

COH is no way overrated. I like MOW much more, but COH is still a fantastic game.

I had a bit of luck in this mission, cause i managed to get my hands on a damaged german tank, and used it as a fixed gun emplacement. This delayed them long enough on the east side, and allowed me to barely finish the mission.

Replaying Men of War, I realized what a pain it was. The AI obviously got huge advantages as they would often one shot a lot of your stuff. Even on lower difficulty levels, they still do it.

I'd work my ass off actually capturing a tank, get it fixed up, okay, ready to go, one shot gone.
awesome.
Meanwhile my tanks are bouncing shots off theirs left and right.

I'm not a great RTS player, but I did manage to win this map the first time I played it. Use the AT/AP guns. Put them back on the elevated hill in the lower left (?). Also put a couple men on top of the smokestacks. Men of War is both demanding and rewarding.

Nope.

You're just trying to win fights you're not supposed to win.

You never send a tank in if the enemy has sufficient AT.

and you've got no clue what you're talking about, you weren't in the game, you weren't there. you have no idea what the fight was or involved. Too many times I've had an area with like 2 tanks, 2 AT guns, and have a single enemy tank roll in and wipe them all out. First shot, takes out an AT gun, everyone fires, nada. Second shot second AT gun, everyone fires, oh tread knocked off..wow.
third shot either turret destroyed or tank blown up
At that point screw it if you take it out or not, you've lost 3 units on their one tank and by then they've got other units coming in.

Yes it can be overwhelming at times,
Take your time, position is crucial, hull down etc.. works in this game
Use the different ammo types HE (inf, guns..), AP (armour), APCR (armour short distance)
Tanks can be very different between them, you have to know your enemy´s weekeness/ strongs and your own.

The AI will only target your tank when ther´s someone inside, chose carefully when to jump aboard, captured tanks usually have their backs to the fight.

You're playing it wrong. When i started playing i played it like any other RTS, which is a big mistake. You think 2 AT guns + 2 tanks against his one tank. Piece of cake. WRONG. You need to learn different penetration values of guns. A ordinary Sherman tank with the M3 75 mm gun will do fuck all against most German midgame tanks from the front. So you need to flank, or hit stuff in the rear to actually do damage. If you have 2 tanks and 2 AT guns and they are of inferior caliber and penetration to the enemy you need to flank or something since just shooting at it does nothing.

Usually the defense missions in MOW give you AT guns which barely penetrate Panzer III armor and the tanks you get are usually T-34, not the up gunned version so taking on Panthers can be a bitch.

I remeber playing MP against some guys, who were playing the game like any other RTS. We were playing combat so they were turtling, the guy playing with me was doing the same. I was driving around with a T-34 (85mm version) and destroying everything they had with it. On quit after i took out his King Tiger from the flank, the other accused me of cheating, since he couldn't destroy my IS-3 from the front with a Tiger I, while i one shotted it.

I've been playing Men of War for years, and I've beat all games multiple times, but it still ticks me off. I know how to play it, the problem is that for all the need there is for me to get a super precise hit, it doesn't seem to apply to the CPU who can 1 shot from any direction, even maximum range.

That's my point. I've got the AT guns set at angles, I've got a tank flanking (if possible). I've got the tanks with their fronts pointing at the enemy, but my side hits are less effective then his straight on shot. In a defense mission, that's murder. You can't get an infantry guy out there to throw a grenade or Molotov on it, because he'll be cut down, and your heavy weapons are crap against it. Let him get close to nade him and the tank will have butchered the guys in the trenches. Try and steal one of their tanks (because they're apparently so good) and they're one-shotted as well, you know..the ones you just lost a good portion of your defenses taking down, get it repaired and in position and the first tank that rolls in..gone..

Have to agree with crossmr. I mean I know where to shoot the tanks and such but it rarely works as intended, either i hit and nothing happens despite the cursor marking green or I miss over and over again while the enemy tank easily one shots my tank/AT gun.

Also I managed to capture a tiger from the enemy, a tiger i had huge trouble even denting and only managed to take out cause the crew panicked and bailed out after taking damage to the engine. As soon as the tiger is repaired I start moving out only to get one shotted by a panzer IV

Another think making me wanna uninstall and never play again is the retarded fact that AT guns is so fucking effective vs infantry, that makes no sense at all since an AT gun shouldn't even have HE rounds with in the first place and even if it did it should be extremely inaccurate at moving enemies in a open field
