Nah, it's really shitty, get a 4450 instead.

Jokes aside, it's the top of the line i5, the unlocked beast. I have a 4670k, it's no 2500k when it comes to OC, but it hasn't dragged anything down or ever crawled along.

I am wondering if a better approach when upgrading now would be to invest in a i7 system, at least, for all the amazing console ports coming out these days. Lots of VRAMs and 8-core recommended specs and all...

I think that i5 at 4-4.5ghz will be enough for next two years. Then I will buy new board with new gen cpus... maybe in two years will be i5 actually six core if not eight core. Smile

I'd also look into an MSI board of the Z97 Gaming 5/7 variety.

My 4790K went almost 100C with 1,18V @ Prime95 Small test so I had to do something... (Corsair H110 + 2x NH-A14 PWM)

Liquid Ultra.

Today I need to test how it goes with OC'ing. Smile

Devils Canyon has paste but much better quality, but it still heats up more than necessary, delid + Liquid Ultra will drop temps like atleast 10c.

Im going to delid 3770K today, getting it free from my work (we upgraded our editing PC to a Mac Pro Cool Face). Gonna use vice & hairdryer method (very easy and safe, have done it couple times to my friends).

With Devil's Canyon a TIM is not the problem, the black glue under IHS is. There is too much of it and because of it it rises IHS too much so that contact is fucked up once again. Rolling Eyes

This one is quite good:

http://valid.x86.fr/4gj6pi

4,8Ghz requires more than 1,280V and the heat during Prime95 Small test is about 91C so it's not worth frying it for just 100Mhz extra.

So far this 4,7GHz seems to be stable according Prime95 Small & Blend tests but only time will tell how stable this is. Wink

Over one hour of IBT @ Maximum:

Now if just games don't crush or such this should be pretty stable I would say.

Upgraded from Maximus V Gene + 2500K (had for a week delidded 3770K which was like volcano because required shitloads of voltage @ 4,5Ghz, but that chip went to another project in work). Need to run some benchmarks when im done adjusting final clocks, WoW is taking too much time now Very Happy. Awesome little board aswell, has even tiny dedicated soundcard which has headphone amp, very nice quality for integrated Smile
