yeah the negative narrative isn't holding water on social media
now social media has to spin it like the early game is bad somehow, but in reality they are actually just incredibly impatient and lazy people
it's wild to call this game a mess honestly, it's one of the most well-built games of all time been fantastic so far for me, 50 hours and I haven't done anything. reminiscent of RDR, but without the restrictive boring missions.. I've not seen a "fail" gameover yet just because I wanted to approach something differently than intended, there's a good deal more freedom of action here and the game ain't afraid to use it.
There's still one important test to pass:
How will the game feel after 50 / 100 / 250 hours? Will there still be a motivation to play it -- like the Witcher 3 / Elder Scrolls games --- or it will just be "meh" / boring?
RDR2 is -- in any given moment (!) -- backed by excellent characters and story, even if the gameplay is not everyone's cup of tea.
But this game -- that I do like in this moment for the world, environments and freedom of interaction with everything -- has weird / bad dialogues and (as a general consensus) an average story.

It's hard to tell how far this one will go, but it's certainly no problem at 50 no matter what you choose to do.. I generally only get 70-80 hours out of open world games because they suffer from limited gameplay or repetitive elements or dull writing.
This game was actually better than I expected after being hyped for six years of waiting knowing the BDO devs were doing something new.
I really expected a pure action game with the ridiculous writing from that, maybe on the scale of skyrim; but here they really blew my expectations away.
I can see an easy 150 from me, but 250? well.. the world is certainly big enough and the combat is fantastic after suffering through the controls, there's a lot of well thought out mechanics, and we have things like trading and fuck knows how many minigames and puzzles throughout. I think it'll fare pretty well here if you are gameplay orientated atleast.
Then again, I didn't get anywhere near finishing the witcher, BG3, skyrim, fallout
I'm just here to play a game boys
What a incredible sell. "50 hours and i havent done anything"
But i can't believe how much content this game has, i'm only in the starting city after 80 hours
because that's a negative
you guys are some real sour grapes at times
Yes, it is. Cause it's about the quality of the content.
I'm a semi completionist. I'm not bothered with 100% a game, but when there is a quest, I do the quest. Period.
So i'm doing these riding with your party members quest with the horse icon now. I've lost count at how many times I revisited the camp (8+?), ride with a dude hearing a boring conversation doing the same route for no reason. Cause you'll stop somewhere and still have to fast travel alone to another location. Doing a boring tutorial quest or just talking to someone to complete the quest. The devs are bloating the game for no reason just to lengthen the game. But the game is big enough allready without this shit. It makes no sense that they are doing this.
And people falling for that saying: wow, this game is enormous are just retarded. There is enough decent content in the game allready like 75 bosses, a huge world. That's more then enough. Fuck off with the rest of the stupid shit.

like you wanted a list or what?
That would be a quite the short list since you haven't done anything.
^ Another retraded ignorant interpretation.
You consider that everyone that plays games should do it the way you do it, right?
In Witcher 3 I spent hours and hours just walking around and simply interacting with the environment (flowers, candles, Igni, Axii, barrels, talking with NPCs, observing details etc.).

That's autism for you but the Witcher 3 at least had good quality content. This game has not.

So? What you mean by that?
Besides the fact that reality simply eludes you?
Also, some of the richest MFs on this planet have autism so...

yeah I don't play games like that, I don't do quests to check boxes that is quite literally not worth ones time and the game certainly has a lot of mundane tasks you can do. This doesn't bother me so long as I enjoy em, but I play a lot of simulators and survival games that expect a lot of patience.
They give you a lot of options to do what you want, in whatever order you want. It's a life simulator of sorts but you try to play it like a linear game

no idea what you are even talking about here I don't think you were suppose to back-to-back whatever these are.. you don't seem compatible with games that don't manage your attention. If I had to level a solid complaint at the game, there are some very repetitive dialogues at times. Can't name a game that doesn't unfortunately.

It's fine if you don't appreciate it, just play the MQ and fire up the next game

Probably for the better. My problem is if I don't do all the sidequests that will give progression/makes you more powerfull, why bother about the game at all?? At least that's what's in my mind. .

you are gonna get overpowered without even doing the side quests I can't think of too many side quests i've done that actually gave me some measure of power progression, it all came from collecting abyss artifacts from exploration, upgrading my gear, murdering people, stealing recipes
mastering the controls is probably the most important can't get enough of suplexing people and torturing them in new ways
I'm actually terrified the difficulty will turn into a joke soon (i'm sure it will), I keep expecting something to pop up that is miles better than my crafted gear but so far it's been very gradual so I'm actually not sure what the best route for progression is. Pumping stamina with abyss artifacts is required though for flight and advanced techniques to be any good.

Off course, these games let you skip all the content and you'll still be able to do the main quest.
I've still got my old school BG1 and 2 mindset of doing all the side content and in the past filler content didn't exist. Skipping side content feels like skipping the game for me at last.
Perhaps with this game it's fine to skip a lot cause there is still more then enough content left. But you also don't know what quests are crap untill you start them.
Why argue with blackeyed? He whines in every single game thread especially if you say you like it or have prepurchased it, but when its something he likes, he's just as relentless in defending it.

New patch 1.01.00 from yesterday (28th March) makes flying traversal actually viable and fun. And there are more great changes. Played like 8h straight today. This game is addicting
Anyone know a place to get a sub 50 bucks steam key - all i see is overpriced shops (close to retail or above) or cheap fucking MS Store/RoW (Latin America) keys... I dont think that game is worth more than that.
