Yeah Nordic can be "weird" with post-release support from extensive updates such as with Red Faction Guerrilla to never finishing patches as seen with Darksiders 2 although I guess it depends on time and money and probably also how complex the damn code base is.
(Fuck knows what they did with Darksiders 2 Deathinitive in that regard, released as 32-bit with some fixes and then the patch suddenly makes it 64-bit with extensive code rewrites but never really left beta, heh.)
They've also made some minor updates to other games such as for Gothic 3 and it's expansion merging the latest unofficial patch builds into those games for Steam and GOG.
(Although considering the mess the Genome engine probably is in I'm not surprised at all by their decision to not continue any further support than that.)
EDIT: SpellForce 2 and it's stand-alone expansions also come to mind with some of them being fairly broken with updates and fixes making it into further stand-alone releases instead and then those were abandoned quickly too.
(Initially by Jowood for the main game and first official expansion and then Nordic acquired the license and made some stand-alone content of their own.)
Deceived by the forces of evil into prematurely bringing about the end of the world, War – the first Horseman of the Apocalypse – stands accused of breaking the sacred law by inciting a war between Heaven and Hell. In the slaughter that ensued, the demonic forces defeated the heavenly hosts and laid claim to the Earth.
Brought before the sacred Charred Council, War is indicted for his crimes and stripped of his powers. Dishonored and facing his own death, War is given the opportunity to return to Earth to search for the truth and punish those responsible.
Hunted by a vengeful group of Angels, War must take on the forces of Hell, forge uneasy alliances with the very demons he hunts, and journey across the ravaged remains of the Earth on his quest for vengeance and vindication.

I highly doubt it'll be anywhere near free, possibly a small discount for existing owners but we'll see, regardless the game could still be "free" via alternative sources.
If it's so little you have to study a character to see it, then i'd think it's not so bad at all. I don't even know what chromatic aberration is Tried googling but got some sciency crap which i didn't bother reading, and i'm not even ashamed Well, i have only seen extreme pictures of it, but most things are shit when taken to the extreme.
I see it clearly as I open it. It's disgusting effect, I hate it in all games that use it. Only game where they didn't overuse it was Witcher 3, but even there it's better to turn off as it causes slight blurness on the edges.
Here, it's one of the worse examples of CA, and you can clearly see them on any sharp edges the closer it is to the viewport edge.
I marked them, look at it and tell me you don't see it?
Ah yes, the standard low-effort(tm) remastering procedure. You crank up the saturation, add more bloom, a touch* of chromatic aberration here and there, and the game is ready to venture into exciting, next-generer territories. One could easily do all this with Reshade, but buying the game twice is a very satisfying feeling for the masochistic gamer. (Not to mention the inevitable new bugs)

Spoiler:
I see what you mean, but i don't see anything that really bothers me. It might be lazy, and it seems people mostly hate it by principle, but i'm sure there are other cases far worse than this.

22 GB. Is the game any good? I played Darksiders II for ~15 hours and found it tedious & boring.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Yeah it's pretty cool i liked the first game a lot more then the second think God of War meets Zelda.
I agree, while I enjoyed both, there is a huge difference in terms of structure and pacing between 1 and 2. The first one definitely felt tighter and more inspired overall, but for me the sequel had its charm also, with the looting and numerous puzzles.
