Is it possible to delete a very, very old profile in this game?
Or any way to reset progress, and start with the tutorial anew? I haven't played Warframe for ages, but feel like starting again.

Maybe through support.
But there's nothing really "helpful" in the first quest for new players in terms of tutorials that couldn't be picked up after 10 minutes of playing.
Also, if it's a truly ancient account, and you haven't played the first quest since it was introduced than you can just log back in and it will give it to you like you were a new starter.
If it's not that old, most quests can be replayed. Not the tutorial mission, but most of them.

They still give away plats on twitch. 2-3 times per stream IIRC, but good luck being one of the viewers chosen, it's a lottery and thousands of people are watching. They also have 25/50/75% discounts as possible daily rewards (haven't seen a 75% for ages tho).
But if you don't mind using the warframe.market site, then you can comfortably make plat in game too without having to bother with trade chat.

Thanks for the info. I'm defo not watching twitch and the like. 
I might just end up NOT playing the game at all, as it won't accept my e-mail address (seems like my ancient account has been deleted after all), and I can't sign up/login.
And no, I'm not creating yet another e-mail addy just to play...

Game's not bad upon revisiting it after all these years. My only gripe is that for some reason, I started out with a Mag frame instead of the Volt that I selected and played with during the tutorial mission...
I thought it was because all the goodies were brought over from my old account, but no. No equipment/money/plat, nothing was migrated.

A solo index is even more boring especially since the map rework. Now the index map is big and dark and messy. Back then you could just sit and let AI do the work for you while you collect points.
Anyways, Rhino is still the easiest and most consistent frame for Index as you can Iron Skin and collect points (carry 15 before depositing for efficiency). Rhino + shotgun best combo.
You can also try other frames like
Mesa - usual build though you need to keep eye on her Shatter Shield.
Excalibur Umbra - operator mode and AI kills for you. Equip a nice sniper.
Equinox - duality build
Wukong - now with rework he is good. You can use his AI and both play together.
Ash - old fatal teleport
There is also a strong Revenant build for Index though am not a fan of it.
Personally would still advice doing Index in a group. Or just do Dark Sector locations for credits.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Do Hierachon on Pluto, takes 3mins to do one excavation and then leave, gives you 25k unbuffed plus cryotic

Well, to each their own. I for one always liked the Index, but I ran it for credits specifically very few times. It ending up as THE credits farm spot is kind of a side-effect of it making sense lore-wise that you're fighting to get rich. I really don't see why you'd run it solo if credits is what you're after. Having a full team makes it go faster and if the others want to quit, you can just cash in and start again.

Oh yes, when you farm Profit-taker for toroids to rank up with Little Duck, you inevitably end up with enough credits to last you for a long time.

Anyone plays this at around MR 4-6 and wants to team up sometimes?
I usually take a reasonable amount of time completing a level, so speed rushing through missions with complete strangers, playing catch 'em up is hardly ever an option for me.

I am MR17 now, but I regularly level my weaker stuff. All my frames are maxed out, but I rarely use their powers. If you're ok with a maxed frame but weaker weapons, hit me up. I go by 'Hmuda' in-game.

Simply 1-4 and wait for a refresh. The frame is super powerful and if you are good at getting invisibility by crouching on beats, even better.
Nekros and Hydroid and camp. It is also a good source for Orokin cells while also getting credits and bonuses.
