I'd actually play these if they were historical (or at least give them a go), maybe 1940's or something. I'm aware there was an historical farming game knocking about a few yrs back, 1950's or something. Did not like that much.
Have to wonder why Germans seems to love these type of games though.

you should just play it instead of wondering why.. because farming sim is actually a pretty fun game. there's not much to it, and you don't have to be german to realize it.
with that said, fuck these assholes for shitting out a new copy every 2 years and barely improving the formula at all.
The gfx and details are better than ever, but it is indeed a fulltime job, at least at first. When you get the economy going you can hire NPCs to do most of the work it seems like.
Some minor issues still (some are already fixed in v1.1.3b) but Gfx and physics are better.
Addictive as fuck.
What is still missing is :
- Season mod (wip), because frankly farming without seasons just feels like having a date with thin air;
- terraformer tool to fix farm placeable management which should be coming in the next update (not hotfix) before Christmas;
- proper steering wheel/joystick support, despite it was working fine in FS17 they totally broke it for some reasons (gamepad are still ok).
Anyway game is still enjoyable, playing all weekend in MP with kids and having tons of fun.
EDIT :
And 1.1.3 update out :
Quote:
Issues solved in this hotfix:
Fixed a rare blocker when creating a farm in multiplayer
Fixed block when entering vehicles after changing the inputs
Fixed sound with 7.1 headsets
Fixed saving mouse sensitivity
Fixed invert-Y option for vehicle cameras
Fixed issues with Logitech force-feedback wheels (the centering force can now be configured in the Logitech Profiler (G25, G27) and the Logitech Gaming Software (G29, G920)
Fixed input conflicts when changing devices
There is no default mapping for unknown devices to avoid issues with constant menu and camera changes
Fixed some crashes with input devices
Fixed saving of sensitivity/deadzone of input devices
Added support for Logitech G29 and G920 gear shifter
Added support for Logitech G25
Added support for Thrustmaster T-GT and TS-XW
Fixed camera orientation with head tracking (e.g. Track IR)

If you still encounter issues with the wheels, make sure that the wheel drivers are up to date and that you reset all the inputs in the controls menu.
