Nah. Still missing one part (case for the tablet).
Got two magnets to hold the tablet in place, and a magnetic USB cable. I stumbled upon the cable by accident. But they are actually extremely useful!

I plan on starting the project on the coming weekend.

Stay tuned! Laughing

@Newty182
I'm trying to do something similar like this here:
Quote:

MORE @ https://imgur.com/a/IuJod

Basically i had to get a new cover to replace the standard radio with a new one, and the needed CANBUS-Adapter to be able to keep using the wheel controls later on with the replacement radio.
The new radio will sit behind the tablet and act as the needed amplifier/bluetooth receiver.

Everything else i want to control via the tablet, that i install over the radio with magnets - so i can easily remove it again if needed.

Oh and are you getting a used Astra? Or a new one (sounds more like that)?

Doesn't look too bad. But i prefer to have as much freedom as possible, therefor i'm going with an Android tablet. Very Happy

Also i think installing that kind of stuff you linked, or replacing your CD400 with it, will definately need an authorized Opel trader to re-programm the things.

You can get the equipment to do it yourself aswell, chinese OPCom clone doesn't cost much at all.

now using even docket equiptment like navigation stuff, mobile phones, tablet etc is forbidden. a little touch is allowed yes, but nothing more. even entering a new navigation destination isnt allowed. 100 bucks + 1 point in flensburg. if something happens while touching around 150-200 bucks and 2 points. and imho that drastical increase is good

Well luckily i can control it with "Ok Google asshole". Cool Face
And i will mostly control it via steering wheel controls anyways, if everything goes after plan.

But please tell me a source for this, as i have not read or heard of something like that by now.

and thats where you are wrong my little brony. using the wheel controls isnt allowed anymore too

just google "handy am steuer", you will find enough results. thats a new law active since ~3 weeks. and yes the race control really watches that closely (source: half of my friends are from the blueman group)

na its not retarded. ofc you can use the wheel controls for louder, next channel/track whatever. but you are not allowed to use it to play around with a connected device. i.e. changing destination stuff etc. thats not retarded, thats common sense. most of all accidents are the result of some stupid fucker playing around with his mobile phone or something else. no pitty for those idiots, but for those how get fucked because of that fucker

just read the text of law. to interact with any electronic device with a display is only allowed for a short time period. that of course isnt a very detailed statement (mal kurz nen blick drauf werfen ist erlaubt, das heißt aber wirklich nur 1-2 sekunden). and that means you can touch it to accept a call or other things which dont need your attention, i.e. skip a song or whatever. that ofc is possible and allowed via the wheel controls. but thats it.

which still would still fail in any police control if they stop you cause of using electronic devices. but surprisingly you are allowed to use pre build in navigation system without problems

So, since many people kept asking me for an update:
I'm not finished yet with installing the tablet.

Only did install the new radio, a new CANBUS wheel-adapter and a new middle console cover.

Since i have to put the radio deeper inside, so the tablet + magnets will fit in front of it, i now have several holes in the shaft i need to fill up.
Bought some cellular rubber for that and will probably do the finish coming weekend.

Also, to my surprise nothing really was broken - just a little plastic piece of some cable connection that was too hard for me.

Awesome

I tried putting the tablet in front of it, but doesn't look as good as in front of the radio.

Also i don't think it looks ugly at all. Maybe a bit simple, yes.
And i still need it anyways for info when changing temps (clima and outside) or seeing the status of toggled features.

// Oh and the middle armrest is already mounted, just not visible.
Also has a pretty big cache inside if you open it up. Very Happy
