And if you wanna push your point further, yea, serial killers do get what I find an inappropriate amount of attention relative to their actual importance - there's something vaguely similar at hand here as well, akin to fascination, a form of morbid but excited curiosity.

He was just arguing that you don't need to actively know something to be negatively judging it (aka I never met Hitler, so I must like him then ?), not that transgender people are serial killers. The bait was the cherry on top to emphasize the point.
I don't think that was my point whatsoever but let's deal in absolutes for such a subject, it'll be productive and totally different in attitude from those who were being criticized.

IMO it's sadly another case of extremely online guy/girl/xir/? fucking it up for the "normal" guy/girl/xir/? that is just trying to live their life.
Just like every other group there are also folks whose identity is based on much more than their sexuality/skin color/beliefs and can take a fucking joke or someone questioning those.

*Raises hand* ME ME! I was in prison, remember? I met one.
So so far, 1 person here on the forums has met one of them. And still zero for meeting, or even knowing someone that met a militant aggressive trans that ruined their life.
(Being facetious here for the sake of absurdity of comparison too)
And as couleur pointed out, the differences in the importance is the part being overlooked.
I've never met a poral bear trapper, or someone that yodels for a living. Doesn't mean they dont exist. BUT the importance and severity of the impact of them existing to society as a problem for all is different than that of a serial killers.
Just because a type of person is rare, is not the only comparison metric to gauge if they are a legitimate danger to others in general or not.
