Yet another fucking predictable thread. Booooorrring. Whoever didn't see it a mile off from the beginning of the show is blind and it has nothing to do with hindsight - everything to do with 'whens this going to happen then'... So she fucks her brother in order to be historically accurate. Lets forget the utter contrived nature of it all though eh!

Oh dear, it was a better episode than last though so I'm not complaining, and I think the start of it was brilliantlly done - loved the elephants also.

I think u expect far to much from tv dude...I mean, its a good show...sure some of the plot lines are predictable cuz of history, but fuck, thats what they are going for. I havent seen a better presentation of Rome or story of Julius Caeser on film or "tv filim"...I mean, Rome doesnt have a tv show feel to it...the quality and the length they go to for realism is superb and more like a high quality, big budget film (yeah, I know, this is a huge budgeted show, but still).

I'm completely enjoying my experience with Rome - I thought that was clear. I don't anticipate each release for no reason. If that weren't clear then I'd be at pains to point out that my criticism is not to put down the show but state how I think they've missed a beat or could have gone at a different angle.

In being so predictable they insulted my intelligence. Historical accuracy is well and good but contrived and predictable plotlines such as this just get on my tits. I still enjoy the show immensely however. Just voicing my opinion on other aspects.

Thats fair enough, I thought u were bashing it cuz it followed history and is predictable in a sense.

Rome just has everything going for it. Good dialogue, good acting, a good display of roman culture, politics, war and day to day life - for rich, middleclass and poor alike, interesting plot twists, sex/nudity (i mean, seeing a nice set of tits in the mid of a show is a good thing imo) etc

I hope the guys who did Rome make a few movies or make a Rome like series about Alexander or another great warload...even a King Arthur one, the King Arthur movie sucked something fierce...clive owen ruined the whole thing, and its full of inaccuracy and cliche's

Rome's being aired on the BBC. The lewd parts have not been cut as expected (there wouldn't be much left otherwise). They have however re-edited it by cutting some innocuous scenes short & showing some in a different order. The only reason for this I can think of is to not let the series drag. But imo the hbo showing is superior.

Yup, this show gets better and better..I really love how the show lets you form your own opinions with the story...wich side do YOU choose? wich character do YOU believe or understand..

It shows no favor to Caesar or the family of Brutus..

and it showed the scene with pollo and the slave in such a way that made me feel sorry for pollo.. best episode ever Smile

I'd probably do the same in that moment if I was Titus Polus (meaning being in Rome, etc.) - However, I would not have apologised for it to Mr. Turncoat.

It's rather interesting how things have turned since Verinus became a turncoat sellout. I never figured him to be so easily bought. But obviously he was.

Polus haven't only lost a friend, he has lost everything he really had. If I were him, I'd probably side with the Brutii.

Guess he's not a sellout after all. Smile
Tonites episode was fuckin awesome...and the realism is wicked

Next week is the finale, i wonder whats gunna happen? I hope that little shit Brutus gets murdered, I hate that guy...such a whiny ass little girl who lets his fucked up mother dictate shit, all because Caesar wont fuck her (basically)....man, I hope he gets his throat cut

A man who shifts allegiance once, is untrustworthy, one who does it twice is a turncoat, and no matter the circumstances, disloyal.

The Brutii and the Julii always had these feuds, and history will unfortunately not serve you Syco :/

I think Polus proved himself worthy of life, whereas Verinus once again showed his cowardice. He is a man of many words, a man who try to appear complex, when in fact the simplicity of Polus contain far more wisdom, than the folly of Lucius Verinus.

Polus is the only one who I really care for now. Verinus is just a reactionary coward.

Personally I think the Brutus character has been really fleshed out these last couple of episodes. I'm a little annoyed by his Tom Cruise-like set of teeth, but beyond that I think he's doing good.

A man who off's another man like that is no coward.

What do u mean history wont serve me? I think they are pretty close to what ive read, but it seems u have more knowledge about rome, so I'll take ur world for it Smile

And yeah, Polus is a badmon for real...i mean, he's "bad" but u can totally understand his reasoning. Going from someone of use and fame, to a slave/bum type of guy - that would make me crazy.

And Verinus, i kinda agree with you. But u also have to look at it from this angle. He's got a family to support and as we saw in the early episodes, he didnt give two fucks about them (or atleast didnt show it). Now, he's trying to do right by his family, but also uphold some of his morals...once a soldier always a soldier ya know?

I like the way u discuss this tho fisk. Smile
What do you think of the Attia/Brutii Woman (cant remember her name) feud?

@Indiana - When I say i wonder whats gunna happen, I mean like how they are gunna show the events and stuff.

As I recall, doesnt Caesar get offed by Marc Anthony? or does the house of brutii do it? I know Caesar is assassinated...or am i wrong?

Preview for the next episode

Excellent! Finally a rendition of Caesars murder that doesn't contain the phraze: "Even you, Brutus". For seriously, who would know such a thing, and why spread it? I think it's an invention for drama.

I think Verinus finally got what he deserved. From all his talking about "pride", he became without it, and finally he realised that his values really weren't much worth.

Syco: What I meant, was just that Caesar would be murdered rather soon, and look - he was. :/

I fear for this series now though, I cannot quite see where it can go further.

Well if it contiues another season we should see the aftermath, how Gaius Octavianus or"Octavian" in the series defeats Marcus Antonious at Actium and becomes Augustus First Roman Emperor 63 B.C. - 14 C.E. Oh and I almost forgot, Marc Antonious marries Octavians sister Octavia, before he has it of with Cleopatra....so for sure there is material there for at least 3-4 season more Wink...if they get the budget for it that is.

Anyhow if you need something else to watch after this, I can realy recomend "EGYPT" from BBC. 6 episodes about the 3 most fameous Egypt archeologists. But then again BBC always rules with thier stuff Wink

Well, it said on TMN that this was the 1st season...so I assume they have another in dev or produced. Plus, if u watch The Making of Rome, they hint to a 2nd season.

If anyone's interested (and in Canada), starting Wednesday at 10pm on TMN1, they are replaying the whole series...2 shows a nite for 6 days.

Nice ending. I was half anticipating a cheesy "and you Brutus?" from Cesar and was relieved when it didn't come. I like the way the series takes the mick out of previous renditions of Rome dramas using the theatre scenes. Also, was impressed at how they gave it sound moral conclusions while in keeping with history.

Anyone know when Rome will return for it's 2nd season? I read somewhere that it was confirmed for another round, but that it wouldn't come until 2007.

Is this true?
