I am in this cave searching out iron ore and I came across this small hole on the wall and could hear the occasional meowing, so I crouched down and fumbled my way through to find myself in some sort of small cat village.
But as I started to walk around they started meowing like crazy, are they angry or something?
So right, I started playing this on Dolphin just now. Works more or less flawlessly, except the character's skin texture goes completely black every now and then.
Also, this might be a stupid question, but is it possible to play online with Dolphin?
Unsure about Dolphin but perhaps try one of the later daily builds though those can sometimes be a bit unstable and this game is very new so emulation might not be perfect though based on what you said it seems quite good.
As for the cat shrine I noticed that too, you can enter it later on and there will be a guy there trading items (You can harvest fireflies here as well.) but other than that it seems unremarkable aside from marking the Felyne/Felynx or what they were called into the monster database, there's some area further in where you can dig as well but I never found anything.
(The critters are fairly harmless but they do steal stuff and if you let them get away they escape so you need to smack them around a bit to get it back, can't kill them though, they'll just get knocked unconscious and will then burrow away form you dropping some minor item.)

There is a sign in the middle of this cat village and a symbol appears when you approach it, any idea what it might mean JB?
Wasn't that the net icon, you need a (preferable higher quality and even then it'll break fast with repeated use.) bug net which you then use automatically to catch fireflies which is a more rare type of bait.
(Managed to put in some more hours into this, now on the second tier 3 quest or how to describe it, been doing them in order so far and it's starting to get a bit more challenging.)
I use one of those classic controller pro, default system with the wii-mote and eh "balance stone" (To quote a Wii Wario game of questionable mini-game content as I don't remember the proper name now.) have a pretty rough camera control (Which really doesn't help when fighting say a Barroth or trying to swim underwater properly while fending of Ludroth or similar.) though most other stuff is manageable, combat can be somewhat tricky to manage at first as well but works out OK.
(Not one for some of those gimmicky accessories like wheel or gun "case" but this control is quite useful and rather well supported in more traditional games.)
EDIT: For Dolphin a gamepad would obviously be preferred as well.
(Mouse+KB might be a bit limited for certain motions depending on title used.)
EDIT: Naginata or something it's name was, Kama perhaps?.
That would have been nice. Fighting with slow weapons is a pain, as attacks take several seconds to execute, and with most attacks being vertical ones, it can be hard to hit enemies.
Well my Wii network adapter arrived thanks to Leo/INatan (as much as I'd like not to recognise his help but that would be ungentlemanly ) anyway, a quick question:
It looks like it has exactly the same mechanics on-line as well as off which is pretty awesome and I am thinking of moving to just MP, will both my stats and the character progression be the same on-line as off?
Also: what weapon do you use:
tb uses sword and shield. (I made a medium blow gun but it was far too unwieldy)
It's fairly similar offline and online but some stuff can only be obtained online (Probably can be brought into offline play as well from there.) and there are various events and similar organized (And rotated so it'll reappear now and then it seems.), as for weapons I used sword+shield primarily and then upgraded it (Usually from normal weapon to +weapon and then a new sort of weapon and so on.) but I'm currently testing a upgraded axe/sword hybrid made from bone and upgraded further to use Barroth parts, armor is currently Alloy which is a bit weak but I'm saving up to get some better stuff once I've killed and gathered a few (A lot actually.) things here and there.

Haha, yeah it's mentioned in some of the articles about the game, 2-handed sword is a bit slow but can really do some damage (When you actually hit with it, combo's help as it swings faster and wider at times.) , hammer class in turn is a bit weaker but can stun, this thing using both in a way should be able to handle stuff nicely in most situations.
(Maybe not under water though or against certain bigger monsters and upgrading it will be costly hah.)
None of the weapon classes so far appear to be better than the others though, just need to keep them upgraded to handle more challenging creatures whether it's the fast but not as damaging sword+shield combination, slow but powerful two hander, hammer or lance.
(Lance is interesting but I find it a bit difficult to use it effectively.)
EDIT: Well that went better than expected, MP has some interesting touches for sure and it's quite fun, need much more practice though as I fumbled around too much.

If this game was on the PS3 it would be the number one game since Demon's Souls, it has incredible depth and replay value, anyway:
Feeling smug over beating all my quests in record time with only three players I then was killed for the first time and it was in a level one quest, yes level one .
'Hunting The Hunter' killed me dead, also I had a purple health bar, it looks like I was infected somehow but with what I have no idea...
Following that I tried 'tracking the trickster' and that killt me too, so all in all my confidence went through the floor lol.
The hardware is surprisingly good at it's job; clear and well defined, what you must remember to do is first of all log onto the Wii Shopping Channel and input the WiiSpeak code that comes in the box to grab the latest software.
Once you've done that go into the new app called WiiSpeak Channel and set up.
The instructions ask you to position the mic on the top of your tv but I ignored that and its sitting up top of the wii to the right of my tv.
Ok, now run the MIC TEST ensuring you get a nice clear signal and save.
Boot MH:Tri and go into 'game settings' and turn on the mic otherwise no-one will see the mic symbol identifying you have a mic or more importantly hear you
Now this is the annoying part, you have to register the guy you want to talk to as a friend, you just cannot start chatting, but once that's done it wonderful, the BEST way to communicate and it only takes a moment.
Anyone who wants to do some online questing/hunting give me a pm with your MH: Tri ID code.
