You dont necessarily have to use any of the XMP profiles. Its actually much better to tweak the speeds and voltage manually. Your RAM is guaranteed to run at 1600Mhz with the timings listed on your RAM box and with whatever voltage that is given on your RAM box.
Using that as your baseline, in the future you can increase the frequency and lower timings as needed. Adding a bit more voltage if you experience unstable behavior.

My old vs current, all I've done is clock to 4.5Ghz and set my RAM to DDR3-1600. Still, quite a substantial jump it appears - though I'm going to attribute that to the program changes over the years.

Thats a pretty significant increase using the same hardware mate. Very nice overclocks!

I actually had to bring down my FSB back to the 126-128 range recently because it wouldnt go past 4.62Ghz no matter what. Also DDR4 past a certain speed will not boot if the FSB is not set to 125
Im trying to reach 4.7Ghz not for performance but just for the sake of seeing that .7 there (first world problems)

in the old days, the FSB had to be a multiplier of 3, try that - 126-129-etc

In the old days I had a Compaq
I just can seem to get my desired OC. The problem is Im trying to OC the CPU while staying above 3000Mhz on the RAM. My RAM stock speed is 2800

I actually have 8GB of DDR3 RAM. In AIDA64 whenever i go to SPD i can see some stuff from the RAM itself.
It says it's Kingston, 2x4GB, DDR3 SDRAM DIMM. So far so good. Now the confusion is:
"Memory Speed: DDR3-1333 (667Mhz)"
In spain, in a trusty online shop, they only have This http://www.pccomponentes.com/kingston_valueram_4gb_ddr3_1333mhz_pc3_10600_cl9.html
The thing is that my RAM says something DDR3-1333 but then says 667Mhz. If i buy 2x4GB more of the link's RAM, will it work the same way or will there be any kind of compatibility issues?
Thanks in advance.

That'd be kinda the same,right?.. Besides, 2x4GB (making 16GB in the MB) costs 60€ in total while 2x8GB costs 120€... Big price difference, right?

*Sigh* What's the best RAM for the money out there, for gaming/video editing (Premiere Pro CC 2015) ?.. Something fast etc.. I don't know much about other brands or how these things works though, other than Kingston but Crucial or something.. Something Trustworthy.
Suggestions for now.. Thinking of 16GB for now. Since Skylake is still far away and there's no use for DDR4 until then then welll, something's something.
Again my specs are up there..The "OC" part of the RAM stuff mentioned there are well..I dunno if it means "These memories can be OCd" or "Must be OCd" or whatever.
note: I DON'T OVERCLOCK MY STUFF AT ALL!
Also i don't know how many pins my RAM has...And they must fit the motherboard, also to fit under the CPU Fan (Thermaltake Frio OCK)
EDIT: It seems my CPU can only accept memories up to 1333mhz sadly. Can't go above that it seems .. My MB feels outdated (nearly 4 years). I'm fucked up x_X;...

Well especially with DDR4 making it's debut kinda now, I don't think they will go any lower indeed, soon™ DDR3 will be what DDR2 is now, expensive as fuck :\

is it worth it?
