We never got around to trying this before - is it possible to play the ARK.Survival.Evolved.Aberration-RELOADED release in self-hosted co-op multiplayer (via hamachi or whatever), or do you need to go through the fake steam account route if you want anything other than single player?
IIRC you can host a "local listen coop-server" trough the ingame browser, no need for the steam account thing but everyone that plays with you has to stay in a 50meter range since simulation is limited to your surroundings

This game is... unfinished and feels like an early 2000's failed experiment with a crap engine that is in alpha stage. This was a serious disappointment, from UI, graphics, PERFORMANCE to content.
Best game ever made, even with the issues it has. Content is fantastic.

Perfect, that's just fine for our purposes, only 2-3 players. Thanks for confirming, would've sucked to download and install this whopper of a game for nothing.
Wow, I guess if ARK was the only game ever made, that'd be true
I put about 900 hours into it. Went from just me to a powerful tribe that still lives on today I think. It was a great adventure and met some cool people and had an epic and intense battle with the most powerful tribe on the island at the time. When you are on your Rex that you have spent many hours obtaining and you manage to scrape through with an extremely small amount of life, adrenaline pumping. Oh man its just an awesome game. You do need to put a lot of time into it.
Oh and there is a lot of politics and scheming that goes on.

You could copy-paste that statement and apply it to a number of games, like World of Warcraft.

Yeah I'm not going to write an essay. It's fairly obvious about the theme of the game and anyone can Google the content.

...except it doesn't seem to save progress at all, each time you connect it just defaults to a new survivor, which obviously is unplayable. Shame.
It does save the characters in the same world, but there seems to be a desync between the clients and server so it can't pair up the two properly.

The All New Genesis Season Pass includes:
- ARK: Genesis Part 1 (available December 2019)
- ARK: Genesis Part 2 (available winter 2020)
- Exclusive HLN-A cosmetic pet (available now), only obtainable by purchasing the ARK: Genesis Season Pass!
Edit: lol nm you can take the expansions for free as well!
How is this game solo/coop? I'm not a big fan of pvp and big groups.
edit2: actually the expansions still cost money, but they give a couple "expansion maps" away for free.

I got it for free on humble monthly some time ago and bought the expansions for dirt cheap some months ago, on steam... so I wanted to add the free maps on steam (same as on EGS) and you need to install the game for this, the stupid "add 1 free at a time" thing on steam, and the fucking game requires 195GB to install!
First gameplay of Ark: Survival Evolved remastered in Unreal Engine 5 AKA Ark: Survival Ascended today apparently during the Xbox Showcase at 6PM UK time or 10AM PDT/1PM EDT
ARK: Survival Ascended has completely recreated and redesigned the artwork and worlds of ARK to take advantage of the latest in videogame technology, Unreal Engine 5, using high-end graphics features such as fully dynamic Global Illumination (“Lumen”), so that light bounces realistically of off surfaces and provides realistic reflections, and advanced mesh streaming (“Nanite”) of hundreds of millions of triangles for extreme detail.
