If you are keen to play God of War Ragnarök on PC, but have been put off by Sony's PSN linking requirement, there is now a mod that will sort that out for you.
Nexus mods user iArtorias actually created the mod to strip "the PlayStation PC SDK runtime requirement for God of War Ragnarök", however it can also be used to negate PSN linking. The mod - known as NoPSSDK - removes the PSN overlay, which allows players to bypass linking their Steam account to a PlayStation network account (thanks, PC Gamer).
iArtorias said they created the mod as there are "a number of people that encountered various unexpected errors and issues, e.g. a sudden error message popup and more" when playing God of War Ragnarök on PC.
"This library attempts to resolve all the possible issues related to the PlayStation PC SDK," iArtorias explained. The creator added the mod doesn't make any changes to the original game code, and "is NOT intended to encourage the piracy".
The mod currently has 1764 total downloads.
Soon after its PC debut, God of War Ragnarök received a number of negative Steam reviews. Many of these reviews were taking aim at Sony's controversial requirement for PC users to link to a PSN account. As Vikki reported at the weekend, others also left negative reviews due to the "state of the game", reporting issues such as crashes and visual bugs.
While at that time, God of War Ragnarök was sitting with a "mixed" review average, the PC version of the game is now currently up to a "mostly positive" average on Steam.
For more on God of War Ragnarök's PC release, Digital Foundry's Alex Battaglia recently spoke to Matt DeWald, lead producer at original developer Sony Santa Monica, and Steve Tolin, technical director of PC port developer Jetpack Interactive.
Game's fun so far. More of the same, but still... enjoyable and no technical issues on my end. NPCs are great, especially the facial animations and expressions, very similarly to the Horizon games.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
its still fun for sure but i think the pacing is either a little off or the first game is still too fresh on my mind. maybe the first game was more tight and helped that it was something new, with this one they expanded everything but the story i dont find it that interesting so far, started really good but then kinda nothing that keeps going and mimir i was already tired of him in the first game now he is talking even more...

Yes, it does seem to take its time. I'm about 12 hours in (just met Freyr), and it still feels like the story is being introduced.
Mimir talks a lot yeah But Sindri is a nice character, especially when with Atreus.

Pacing is probably this games biggest flaw. Lots of filler to pad game play time.
i guess it dosent have that urgency in the story for a game about ragnarok and instead story is focused more on something else, def not something i was expecting even more how they did odin and the other gods which they are still fine but wat i was expecting from the sequel was different game entirely and more in line with something like gow 3, still game is still great and combat very smooth
around 30h and still havent finished the story and just taking my time with it doing also side quests once they are available
After several hours spent being an invisible wall dodger and empathic Dad of War trying to tolerate the teenage spawn along with his chatty crew, I had to wrap this up. The formula still works (consolitis notwithstanding) however, the two main aspects that saved the first game for me (the competent-ish writing for today's standards and the pacing) are noticeably weaker here, not too dissimilar to how Ginger's Creed Forbidden West also turned out. At some point, I was passively waiting for the disposable theme park ride to unfold since I didn't care for any of the events presented..enough to send the iso to the shift-delete Hel.

Is KB+M usable yet? Well, mouse, in particular.
It worked fairly well for me apart from the wrong default sensibility and the usual couch-friendly FOV (fixable with Cheat Engine). The latest patch should improve things since it mentions mouse controls using raw input instead of the original GameInput.
Gotta use cheat engine to fix the FOV? I am not an FOV snob but this has to be one of the worst offenders as it feels like a horse with double blinders.
Hope they're lobotomized in the worst way possible. When you say assassins creed shadows is disrepsectful of japanese history, you can say the same about god of war albeit nordic mythology and not history.
Gamebanana also removed it. These modsites are loat

It's all right if there's a big payoff at the end, but the actual ragnarok battle was a joke

Cheers!
Will wait a few patches more, then I'll give it a shot, I really liked the preivous GoW. Although you're not the first to mention this one is weaker, so I'm really not in a rush.
there are some nice side quests areas like the semi open world map sections just like in the first game, but the latest one i found is the crater and its def the best one.
it can be missable and starts small until you arrive in a new separate part of the realm map and u think u have to do a small side quests and the more u explore the more u find and the map expands like 3 times and has many other quests in there, really well designed for such a small zone and felt like a dlc for the amount of content it has.
Yes, I like the exploration element a lot. You sometimes really need to go search for side quests in some corner of the map, and it's pretty rewarding each time, even if only just for story/wow effect of the set pieces.

finished the game and while the story i think is a big wasted potential at least they did the main characters great, each one had its moments and all were very well done
fairly lengthy game at around 50h with most of the things done except some usual busy work, finished valhalla dlc too which continued the main story a bit
ran great, smooth combat, amazing score, many epic moments, some amazing acting, truly big AAA production
Started playing this a few days ago. Agree that the previous installment was better. I don't remember the combat in that one, but here it often feels floaty/weightless and the enemies way too spongy.
Ironwood was so fucking boring, I almost quit the game for good. And overall, the game seems too long with lots of fillers. The characters and their interactions are mostly great, and that's what has kept me going until now, I suppose.
How/where do I find the Crater area mentioned above?
It's in Vanaheim. After a story related (so you can't miss it) cutscene with a character falling from a flying boat, there's a side quest to find him, which leads you to the crater.
