Obviously. I work with Yanks every day and I meet many that completely hate what their country has become. However the problem is the 51% of Americans that voted Bush and that control the military. From the perspective of someone living in British Columbia (western Canada) I see a lot of things. Especially drug related because most of the marijuana in the north western states of the US is "exported" from us. Grow-Op busts are a common day thing, youth gang violence is not that rare. The general population seem to be liberal-socialist leaning when it comes to most things. Recently the government has moved to ban all handguns in the country. I believe this is simply a vote grabber by Paul Martin. Personally I believe in gun freedoms, I don't own a gun but I believe in such a right to own one.
That's a skim of some differing things about Canada. Now from my perspective towards the south. Religious zealots seem to run the country, everyone is talking about faith and the morals dictated by a 2000 year old book that advocated stonings. In Canada there is really no such thing. Canada's national anthem contains the line "God Save the Queen" but regardless of how liberal Canada is, no one seems to make a big deal of this unlike where in the states it seems to cause extremely partisan battles over the pledge of allegiance (which in my opinion is a bit creepy to me. It's almost like raising your arm and screaming "SIG HEIL!").
Paul Martin does not say "god bless" after every speech, instead he follows the speech with the same speech in another language. The people from the states seem to constantly make fun of the "fact" that people from Canada speak French, which is not that true. As I said I'm from western Canada and very few people can speak French fluently. You take a few semesters of French in school but how many of you can say you can speak fluent Spanish from taking a few semesters of Spanish class? But regardless of this almost all major politicians in Canada are bilingual. No matter what languages are spoken, being bilingual speaks huge amounts about that persons intelligence. How many of you could imagine Bush ever speaking a language other then his own?
Another very odd thing I see in US politics is that people are not Liberal/Conservative/Socialist/Libertarian. Instead they're "Democrats" and "Republicans", it's more like religion then political views. I at one point agreed with the Republicans. Government should be small, civil freedoms should be honored. But now I see the Republicans have turned into a far more fiscally liberal group then the Democrats. They keep increasing and increasing the size of Government and it's powers while decreasing civil privacy and freedom which is totally in contrast to what the Republican party originally was.
In Canada it feels to me like the people are far more moderate, progressive and pro-freedom then it's rabid partisan cousin. This is coming from a person who's political liberal and libertarian leaning. I'd much rather be in a country like Canada where it is outright socialist then a country like the USA which pretends to be a non-socialist country, regardless if it is less socialist then Canada.
Now to debate some of the other posts in this thread.
The US gets a huge amount of it's raw resources and energy from Canada. Without Canada as a trade partner, the US' economy would cease. On the other hand Canada gets a moderate chunk of it's commercial products from the states. But nothing truly huge.
Canada had the third largest offensive naval army in the world during the time of World War 2. We secured Juno beach even though our population is a mere fraction of that of the states. We also had a higher recruitment ratio. Don't say Canada is a feeble country that could never defend itself. Unlike the states we decided that the war was over and there was no need to maintain such a large army since we don't plan to be offensive (oh I'm sorry, I mean "preemptive").
It's truly sad when a country which is outright socialist gives more civil liberties to it's citizens then a one which is apparently the "land of the free".

And why would it be sad to talk more about usa then our own country? Our own country doesnt do as much shit as usa so not as much to talk about.
And its not just your life/politics, since usa loves war their making it everybodies life and politic.

When most ppl say usa does that or that they mean the country, which is the government and not the people.
The second post isnt the one who started it, it was yourgod. The second post said hes opinion on the topic. And the canadian who think highly of the us system is ignorant, no one said that was couse he thought highly of us.
Stop posting things about the thread if you dont understand what it says, your just stupifing yourself which gives more proof to american stupidity doesnt it?
And say it like this, i have my opinion about usa and their people, when i bash usa what does the american guys on the forum do?
They flame and things like that, do you think that helps and make you ppl look smarter and change my view? If i post something you dont agree on proove me wrong instead of flaming, that would do alot better for the picture of americans.

Me being that Canadian, maybe you should re-read what i said. I said YourGod is an ignorant american...atleast, if your going to get all bent outta shape, get your facts right.
Also, try reading the whole fuckin thread. I didnt want the thread to go like this, but it started with starforce drawing political comparisons and such, and then yourgod jumped on the band wagon...
And I have never once said the american ppl are idiots or anything of the sort, again, read what i fuckin write. I dislike the corrupt American GOVERNMENT.
It seems to me some of the americans on here (not all mind you, for sure not all) cant comprehend the difference between the people of america and the government which is in charge. Just because I think the government is fucked, doesnt mean i have a dislike for the ppl. I have always been very clear on this.
