Wouldnt depression mean that you have no happy thoughts?

Ive been told by my doctor that Im clinically depressed and stressed to the max. Im basing my definition on my experience you know?

If you go through episodes, wouldnt it be more a mood swing than depression? Dont most people have their sad days and their happy days? i dont think thats depression

I swear, I feel like im on that medication you described...my head is...weird. I cant think and articulate for some reason

No you miss understand.. (well, probably my fault).. An episode HAS to last more than 2 weeks to be considered as a depressive episode (in the case of clinical depression, bi-polar it doesn't really matter as there are rarely any other feelings than depressed and insanely happy).. However in practise, episodes can last for less time, its generally part of a fluctuation period where your very on edge and constantly changing mood.. Forgot to mention that.. Smile

Like I said earlier in the thread most GP doctors have no mental health training (or at least very little).. to get the real information you have to see a specialist in the field or read up on it yourself.. Then again, a lot of the information you will read wont be accurate, it changes depending on where you read it lol.. bloody internet!

Ive read up on psychology and differents disorders.
Ive been told by 2 therapists im clinically depressed. I stopped seeing them because they werent helping and costing me tons of money. Went into therapy after my ex and i divorced...waste of time.

Still, I didnt know you could be clinically depressed and only have depression at certain times. I thought i was a constant thing.

Much like my articulation today...its consisently horrible Laughing

Well being clinically depressed is simply the fact that you have been diagnosed as such.. Depression (as an illness) is a life time illness, you will suffer from it forever, but that doesn't mean you will always feel its effects, you can go for years without being depressed but that doesn't mean it wont come back.. and it doesn't mean your "cured"..

Let me give an example.. lets say your depressed for 2 months solid (this would qualify you as suffering from depression).. Then you have a week of happiness.. then another 2 months of depression. Just because you had a week of smiles doesn't make the 4 months of shit any less important Wink.. What if for 2 days during those 2 months you have a nice time.. again, it doesn't distract from the fact that life is generally, really shitty Razz lol..

Laughing

The example is pretty much how it goes for me.

Every so often i'll get a few really good days or a good week and then its back to the same old bs and stress and shit.

Are you reading my mind? Shocked Wink

Yeah, Ive heard depression is a lifetime thing. Im hoping thats not true and you can be truly cured.

It can be, I mean, it will still be with you, your more susceptible to it.. but if you figure out what's causing it, and remove that aspect of your life (or deal with that aspect of your past).. then essentially you are cured. Generally a mix of drugs and therapy is the best way to go, although if you can cope with the feelings drugs are not really needed..

I'm thinking to myself, "wtf am I doing in life, where am I going", and so on.

It's stupid. I know I shouldn't be depressed. I should feel lucky/ privileged to have what I have blah blah blah, but it just doesn't work like that Sad

Going on a girl problem!! Fuck, I thought I got over it. Apparently not Sad
It´s that feeling on the stomach everytime I see her, and the feeling of emptiness at night.

1) Trusty friends cure depression
2) Being intimate with a loved one cures depression
3) Having someone to talk to cures depression.

I got to admit.. absolutely nothing in the world beats out good vibes and feelings than love making. I dont mean "fucking" or "sex", i mean "love making" just you and your girl intimately connecting one on one between the sheets. It may sound soppy but its the most natural and relaxing a human being can do with another. When i first experienced it with my current GF it lasted hours and i felt like a new guy when i woke up the morning after Very Happy cured my blues no problem!

Do people really give a shit if they are depressed or not? give me a break.

Happiness is highly overrated.

Depression isn't shit, there are a whole lot of things a lot worse than depression.

Anyone who lets depression take over there life is the most worthless human being on gods earth, and should shoot themselves in the fucking head.

Shut up and live your life.

The chances of you being alive are fucking amazing, out of the trillions of sperm your father has dispensed with, you are the one who won, out of all the males and females in your entire generation back upon millions and millions of years, you have been given the greatest gift of all, to live.

So shut the fuck up and live your life, you only get one.
