Ok perhaps I misconstrued what you wrote. What I got from it is expecting people to be objective, ie unbiased is a mistake.

basically yes. And if you perceive yourself as unbiased and objective it makes matters even worse Laughing
or more accurately: base your assumptions about to-be-expected behaviour of others on your past experience with them as everybody is different and some people are actually pretty objective and unbiased on many topics.

and more to the point, where this actually fits your initial complaints about other people's stupidity: We all are. Just differently. Learn to cope with it, instead of complaining about it, because then you can proactively solve the problems you face with stupidity by either thinking for others as well or acknowledging their problems beforehand and accepting them...

Agreed, nobody should get up tight about having their stupidity pointed out to them, it can actually be useful seeing as we usually cant see it ourselves. Trouble is often people just call you stupid without having any real backing for the statement.

This is all well & good if you take a don't give a fuck stance & don't intend any conversation to get anywhere. And in that case there really isn't any point in entering into conversations in the first place. Without the willingness to actually face the awkwardness of learning & growing nothing gets done & people just occupy themselves with excuses for why they never bothered.

Wait, so you realize that there's something wrong with "bitching about nothing's being done", and you still make this thread about nothing's being done?

The hilarity of this thread is never-ending.

ChinUp, like I put in the beginning of this thread; you should fix yourself before you tell others to fix themselves. And once you're whole - you won't bother with making threads on a random forum "to remedy the problem with the world". It's an exercise in utter futility, something like dressing up in a pink bunny suite in the north pole ringing a bell telling people to repent and that the end is nigh.

Who are you talking about here? It's a bit hard to understand what it is you're trying to say when you use vague expressions like: "them", "they", "those" and "their". If you want to get a message through and have a serious debate, quantify your statements.

You simply cannot put EVERYONE on the face of this planet and make a generalized statement about "THEM", because it's such a false assumption, only based on your limited experience and (humanly) flawed perception of your surroundings.

The problem is a collective one, not just one persons. We need to work together for our best interests. Rather than single out individuals to act as scapegoats for our own shortcomings.

This is the difference between teamwork & master servant mentalities.

The argument, since it's generalized is flawed. There are plenty of people who think collectively, who work on the principles of solidarity and act like you want them to. With that said though, there is something to be said for individuality and individual responsibility. It seems to me that you're trying to blame your own inability to get something done on other people.

It's an old argument about individuality versus collective, and the counter-argument is of course that society has never worked as a hive, because that's generally what happens. We saw what collective thinking and the reduction of the individual lead to. It's not a road that I want to go down again, societies that still live in such environments generally disintegrate and turn into one person taking advantage of the collective's reliance on each other.

Idealisms of perfect society, brotherly love, the true freedom of the individual have existed throughout society, but they have always been flawed and never worked in practice. It's the difference between the construct of hypothesis and the application in reality. If you cannot cope with that the consequence of your actions do not lead to the conclusions you imagined, then you are just unable to realize that your ideology hypothesis just won't work.

For instance, let's say your society of everyone being there for each other becomes a reality. What happens to those who (inevitably) don't want to be a part of it? Do they get punished? What will the consequences be for not acting according to your thoughts? Will "helping your fellow man" be realized by laws? Or do you expect people to conform automatically?

The thing is, your ideal society and someone elses will be different. People will disagree, and not want to conform with your view of reality. That's just how things are, and probably always will be.

But trying to change, or wanting to change the world is, like I said previously: an exercise in futility. It's better to apply it on a scale that's more realistic. If you want this done, then start it out by gathering people who think like you do and have meetings and whatnot. I'm sure that will be better than any complaints aired at a piracy-forum on the Internet.

The will needs to come from within to function like a well adjusted adult rather than a selfish child. The existence of selfish children in adult bodies is neither here nor there to you & me, what matters is what we do here & now. Pretending intelligent discourse is impossible to justify your own unwillingness to make an effort is pathetic.

This is obvious stuff. Rolling Eyes

So this crack-mumbling is your argument? Dude, I may have stated the obvious - but you don't even know yourself what you're prattling on about.

What?! Laughing

You must be pulling my leg here, seriously. This has to be some kind of prank from your end, you're trying to act like Borat while trying to be intelligent. Right? Please tell me you are.

You never answered this one: What the hell are you doing besides writing up nonsensical posts on this forum that could be spoken by any hippie on an LSD-trip in the 60'ies?

Again with the irony. Do you actually realize how silly you are with your projections?

So instead of thinking you guess its unintelligible & opt for an arbitrary stereotype.

Again your inability to comprehend something due to not taking the time to think about it leads you to feel like blaming another for your shortcomings.

dominae wrote:

Trying to be intelligent ? Is intelligence something you try on like clothes ? have you no concept of intelligence being something arrived @ through being able to use your head rather than allow emotional garbage to clutter your awareness ?

dominae wrote:

Again due to lacking any comprehension you opt for a tired stereotype to cover up your own lacking. What a way to conduct yourself. Have you no dignity @ all ?

dominae wrote:

As silly as calling me a hippy crack head instead of thinking ?

Take a look @ what is happening, this is a text based forum not a street, thus your act don't talk comment is pure absurdity. Use your head think things through rather than exposing all this liver damage & pretending its cleverness.

Do you usually call something you are struggling to understand crap ? Does this mode of addressing things help you understand or does it afford you with an excuse to continue to avoid making any effort ?

Never. But you've yet to write anything worth of notice. The same old "the end is nigh" drama you've been conveying thus far is old and hardly worth any notice.

Quote:

I address irrelevant things this way. And the effort I make in my surroundings is plenty.

But listen now, you're the one sitting on your high horse here claiming to be superior, knowing all about the "true discourse" for change. And still you have not made any contribution in your own thread that is worth much adherence. Now I know you made it in the bitching section, so maybe it's just you wanting to bitch and moan. I'm fine with that. Bitch and moan all you want - but don't try and project yourself as this being anything more than that.

To me, it's all steam under the semblance of eloquence, in the pattern of complete randomness. So forgive me if I employ stereotype, when you match it to such a parallel.

Isn't it curious how folks don't seem to understand what idiocy is. Like its just a dirty word people who think they are superior throw @ people.

The best explanation for idiocy I heard was that of a playing hide & seek with a small child. The child puts its hands over its eyes & thinks that because they cant see you, you cant see them.

One look @ Dum's posts shows that he is under the impression that because he cannot see the sense in my posts, there is none to be found. Its kind of sad really. Rolling Eyes

Again with the assumptions. You've picked a very simplified view on reality and you attempt to get away with it with uttering complete generalized nonsense.

Your puerile attempt at rewriting my name is on kindergarten-level, as is your complete lack of any poignant observations.

This discussion just got interesting, although I'm surprised anyone can be bothered to debate such an asinine point as Chinup's.

Dominae is definitely Neo, although whether that's a compliment or not depends on your interpretation.

He did it to provoke grief from himself and to inspire his recitation of a tragic poem he had been composing.

They blamed the Christians, and slaughtered them. People, however, were impressed with the piety of the Christians, so the slaughter actually strengthened their faith and filled their ranks instead of the opposite.

As for why Nero burned Rome... well, we should continue this in another thread if you feel like continuing the discussion at all. But basically: the man was insane.
