must say,XBMC remote is pretty nice, thanks very much, however,my receiver doesn't actually support android services ,what I will try to do is this:
I have an ipad,I will just hook it up with airdispaly and control with my GS3,lets see how it will turn up
however,my receiver doesn't actually support android services
No need for that?
It's the Pi/XBMC you control with the remote app. HDMI to your receiver (and then HDMI from receiver to TV for the image, assuming your receiver can do that). XBMC is then the source for everything, the receiver is only there to take in the audio/video and output it
Note that XBMC can also act as an Airplay receiver, it does UPnP/DLNA. So you can stream from any iOS or Android device to XBMC on your Pi and have the audio pop out through the receiver

hm.. works pretty well now, anyway to get HDMI CEC to work with XBMC? thanks
Just go into XBMC's settings and turn it on. All there is to it.
There is a slight chance of your receiver having some screwed up implementation but with my receiver (Yamaha) and both my TVs (el-cheapo smaller Samsung in the bedroom, Sony in the living room) it worked flawlessly.
just noticed this post.was quite busy last 10 days. any way. my XMB setting Peripherals is gray out, looks like I need an adapter to make it work? my PC is connected from HDMi from my Card directly to the receiver, which have HDMI out to my TV
The Raspberry Pi Foundation has finally released their own official monitor 7" 10-point capacitive touch screen at 800x480, connecting via DSI to leave HDMI free and supports powering the Pi too with a USB passthrough.
$60/£48, so not the most expensive price either, but you can get kits for cheaper.. so it's so-so.
The Pi Foundation has just announced *another* entry to the Pi family, the single-core (but 40% faster than the original Pi) tiny model called the "Pi Zero" --- and it's £4/$5!
Not only that, but if you buy the December issue of MagPi, the official Pi magazine in the UK, it's a friggin' cover mount! Buy a magazine, that many most likely buy already, and you get a free computer

In celebration of our fourth birthday, we thought it would be fun to release something new. Accordingly, Raspberry Pi 3 is now on sale for $35 (the same price as the existing Raspberry Pi 2), featuring:
- A 1.2GHz 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU (~10x the performance of Raspberry Pi 1)
- Integrated 802.11n wireless LAN and Bluetooth 4.1
- Complete compatibility with Raspberry Pi 1 and 2
Ordered one this morning, was thinking about getting another pi2 for the kids room, this swayed me.
Can't wait to play

I saw things like that in here and in other "woman problems" topics so...... Am I the only one that thinks some authorities needs to be alerted about Saner and him possibly being a rapist and/or kidnapper ?
Saner is not being serious. Unless its the subject of Santa!
Such a nice little thing, have had the RPI2 as a media center kinda thingy for a few months now, so nice just downloading shows to PC and laying on the couch using the remote to watch it with the RPI.
I plan on using my old pi b as a pockmine server for the kids

Fuck this thing is just pure awesomesauce. I can download FLAC on my PC and just use the RPI to play it all without having to run long cables from my PC to the amplifier and change sources everytime, now it all runs through RPI, TV, Movies, Music so I can just keep the amp at one source, woopdidoo!
We've all seen plenty of PiBoy mods as time has gone on, but this is by far the very best one yet -- it uses a modified Gameboy cartridge as the SD card reader \o/
I made a RetroPie handheld using a Raspberry Pi Zero and an original DMG-01 Game Boy. I modified an original Game Boy cartridge to act as an SD card adaptor for the Pi, so I can have the same satisfaction of putting a cartridge in and powering it on like you would on a regular Game Boy.
Feel free to ask any questions in the comments and I'll try to answer.
Here is a list of parts used:
3.5” composite display: https://www.adafruit.com/products/913
A word of advice on these composite screens: make the wire connecting it to your Pi as short as possible to reduce noise. Adding some shielding helps too. You can get them cheaper elsewhere, especially if you rip one out of a backup camera system on ebay or something, but the Adafruit one is well documented, easy to convert to run on 5v, and I knew the size of the controller board and screen housing before buying, so that was nice.
2000mAh LiPo battery: https://www.adafruit.com/products/2011
There is actually a little more room in there, so I will likely upgrade this to the 2500mAh battery adafruit carries.
I used this to wire up the controls and have them show up as a USB keyboard in Emulationstation. You could use GPIO for the buttons if you want, but I wanted a Teensy to add some multicolor status LEDs later on down the road anyway. Plus it makes it easier to upgrade the Pi Zero in the future if they come out with a Pi Zero 2 or something.
One needs the fan shim, regardless of clocking the device, as it runs rather hot, (case or not) despite the new firmware update. It does reduce temps by -20c, so well worth it, and is software controlled
One needs the JD & Ice also, but honestly, not required for this task.
Hmm thanks for answers, expect you StrEagle This would be like the best thing ever in our exhibition at work, if it could play 2x videos on separate screens, 1080P would be good enough, currently all our dual monitor stuff is running on Mac Mini, i want to get rid of those shit boxes. Guess i need to order one and test it myself.
what is the possible scenario of playing 2 different 4k movies at the same time on 2 separate screens?!
advertisement?
Yes but not for us, we use mostly panoramic pictures edited to video with transitions and other effects, displayed in 2x 16:9 bezeless screens. With these Raspberry PI´s full resolution video would be split to run on 2 instances of "X" video player that is timed to run same time with loop, i can do this on VLC player and windows, but windows is shit for exhibition usage, my mac mini solution is great, but it costs shitloads per installation.
