I guess they gave up and they want to take the money left and run.
sure thing there,buddy
Its more like that they KNOW they have to deliver and that sooner than later, people are waiting for what now,two and a half years to get the game closer to retail?
Dayz is a cashcow and Bohemia will try their best to keep it that way, the negative press and public reactions are forcing them to do something quick now

You are implying they can actual finish the game in a way that people will be happy with it.
how is it a cash cow ? anyone still buy that shit u think?
Its not the current "Product" and a lot of the hype is already over, granted but lots and lots of people still buy the game. Be it because they couldn´t afford it at first or didn´t have the hardware to run it properly (hahahahahaha, properly) or just to play with friends/see what all the fuzz is about.
You shouldn´t forget that DayZ started the flood of (early access) survival pvp games and half of reddit was begging to be allowed to buy the SA alpha back in the day. There is a lot of value still in the Name and Bohemia HAS to deliver something good if they do not want to carry some sort of curse. Their usual tactic, "use the aeons old inhouse engine, tweak it a bit, release as soon as it stops crashing non-stop and patch stuff after going retail" was tried. It failed as soon as they realised that people laugh at them, if they try to deliver a game where using a flashlight inside a house lights up the universe and zombies ignore walls entirely.
In my opinion, they tried to cheapskate it but while it was too big to fail, its now too risky to let it fail or their reputation (thats not the best to begin with except with hardcore fans) goes ass up.
I may be totally wrong tho,not working at BI or have any insights whatsoever.

I doubt it.
Valid point, whatever they do will piss off a certain amount of the community and its questionable if all of the planned/promised features will see the light of day.
However, they have to deliver something more than "acceptable" this time because of all the hype and the "grab their cash and run! RUN!" approach was never an option. Maybe with "Take on Mars" and smaller DLC´s for ArmA 3,easy to weasel yourself out of while claiming "we expected you to like it the way we made it,you know how borked the engine is,teheee" but not DayZ:SA.
Make or break, one way or the other, DayZ:SA will be the future of Bohemia and for the whole genre of EA-Zombie/Survival-walking simulators. So far,its a bad example and carries a lot of negativity, thats why they try to bombard the community with news and re-light the hype-fire without having anything to let people play with. People will accept a month more of waiting without burning down their office but i doubt the same reaction will occur when they release shitty/non working content a while longer.
Phew, lots of text, hope it makes at least some sense,im in a hurry

PUBG ate their sandwich. We are talking about hundreds of millions in revenue I would guess, in the long run. Imagine if DayZ standalone would run even remotely properly and they would develop it like people with brains would.
Surely it would've been easier for them to use a different engine earlier in development instead of polishing that turd.
Because switching engines would have solved nothing.
well in their case a complete new dev team starting from scratch would have been the only surefire way to solve this mess.
the devs seem to spend their time more on investigating who is critisizing them (on youtube, forums etc etc) and finding out how to ban them ingame.
What's left of their playerbase are delusional fanboys. Build up a great community +++
Even if DayZ one day gets finished their future projects won't have as much backing after this continous trainwreck.

When its time to milk the milsim community again after they over-dlc´ed ArmA 3, the next ArmA will sell as good as ever, DayZ:SA retail beeing a trainwreck or not. Most,if not all, "serious" ArmA players constantly make sure they want nothing to do with DayZ and ignore it while constantly whining about it

i really wonder what motivates those devs to keep going, they know they are fucked and wont see any extra pennies anymore as all the money went to pubg and that epic game
id be having major psychological isseus as a game dev of that game right now. the riches u could have had and the work in vain u now left with

I'm pretty sure all the devs are just low wage code monkeys.
I doubt they will gain anything if the game does well, the only thing they could possibly want is for the game to be at least average so they don't all get fired.
