Guys who did DuckTales Remastered making their own game now.

No idea, they used word "original". I guess NEW GAME counts as original? I mean, it is not remake, according to KS pitch.

Perhaps they mean "original" as in, this a new entry in the series and they're not "remaking" an existing game then? I remember Shantae being quite fun on the GBC Smile

Doh! Of course! The original game was made by WayForward as well I always took it as a Capcom game, heh.

also port of some 2010 3DS Shantae game was greenlit recently

Risky's Revenge is only for iOS,DSi. it won't be hard to find the original for GBC,I wonder if 3DS version has any advance ?

didn't heard it before,but looks like another Shantae title,"Shantae and the Pirate's Curse" is coming,exclusives for 3DS,hopefully it will be ported later to other platfroms.

600k reached with paypal with in 2 days to go.. I guess 700k is reachable,but I don't think it will reach any other scratch goal,the 1.1m(full voice) extremely unlikely at this stage Sad ,ho well,

Nice little platformer, supports higher screen resolutions although I'm using windowed mode at 1440x900 to not stretch the pixels too badly, speaking of that there are various scaling options as well.

The higher resolution main menu looks a bit amateurish or how to say but it's full functional, in-game the high-res character art for the main characters looks faithful to the sprites though it sticks out a bit with the rest of the game graphics.

Game plays and looks like a action/platformer game from the 16-bit console era, you walk around from screen to screen avoiding obstacles and such while enemies constantly spawn as you move around though it makes it fairly easy to grind for money, which is used to buy supply items and also upgrade the various spells you can acquire though more powerful upgrades also requires some type of jam along with regular money and this jam is hidden throughout the game world.

And yeah pressing D (Keyboard default.) you can do a practice dance. Very Happy
(Has no real purpose though it causes the rest of the game to pause.)

I'm not really familiar with Shantae games, but since when it is metroidvania? I asked around, checked gameplay videos and reviews quickly and it is pretty linear and straighforward and nothing like actual metroidvanias: cave Story, SoTN, Valdis Story, etc.

Did I miss something?

I guess they just take the basic concept into account when calling it that?
(Platforming, exploration, backtracking and character upgrades to name a few things.)

looks to me that they just took 3ds version, ported it to steam and took character arts from the kicstarted Half Genie game and placed it into this one as dialog art

I don't know why but I fucking hate characters in any video game that attack with their hair... it's just so stupid and turns me off immediately.

Is that all she does all game? Attacks with her hair?

I'm afraid I have to miss out on a cool game... Sad

That's the basic attack, you have spells that can be upgraded in three steps to improve damage and such.

One is a fireball, one is a ball that rotates around your character and one is a lightning cloud, however using them consumes magic which you have to buy potions to refill although later on you can afford a upgrade that makes it regenerate slowly.
