So I've been trying to figure out Darkest Hour and HoI 3 and it's just too complex for me at the moment. I'm looking for a grand strategy game that's easy to get into that has air, land, and naval resources to build and deploy on a global map.
Two games I've been looking at the last couple of days are Advanced Tactics Gold on Steam and Strategic Command WW2 Global Conflict Gold from Battlefront. Wondering if anyone has had experience with these and what you thought or if you have any other recommendations. Thanks!

but wasn't that just a RTS game using the engine Kohan had? I guess I am looking for something turn-based that covers more of the operational side but doesn't confuse the heck out of you.

Company of Hero's was pretty easy to get into. I would start off with the first one and its expansions rather than the 2nd.

I've played all of them. I'm not looking for a WW2 RTS but more of the top-level, turned-based grand strategy games.

Panzer Corps are great games but they're not grand strategy games.
Unfortunately theres no other option for you than to learn Hearts of Iron II, with Doomsday and Armageddon expansions.
Then if you're feeling adventurous, move on to other things such as Arsenal of Democracy or Darkest Hour. And then if you're feeling like you got the tech tree in hand then install Iron Cross on top of either of those.

Clash of Steel, World at War, Strategic Command, Commander Europe at War are all good examples of TB grand strategy WW2 games that aren't too complex.

I asked awhile back about HoI 2 vs. either Arsenal of Democracy/Darkest Hour on the Steam forums and most people said that DH was the best to learn how to play the HoI series. Is that true?
I have played all of the Close Combat games (originals) and I tried to demo for Strategic Command but didn't care for it. I am leaning towards picking up Advanced Tactics Gold based on the editor and mods.
I'm reading good things about HoI 4 and its supposed easier accessibility.
