Since Jade Empire@ is due 12th April, why not discuss and have a blast in this thread...
BTW I sorta missed the hype of this game, I only know a few m8's and some peeps on nforce who really wanna have this game.
I was sold when someone on nforce (you know who you are) told me about this game. It looks to be the last major rpg on xbox 1
Exploration is a very important element in an RPG, if you ask me. We wanna see huge continents to explore, and NOT like fable
Jade Empire Game Features
Jade Empire is an epic martial arts action RPG created by BioWare Corp., the commercially and critically acclaimed RPG developer of Star Wars®: Knights of the Old Republic™, Neverwinter Nights™, and the Baldur's Gate™ series. Developed with a next-generation Xbox engine, Jade Empire will deliver a stunning visual and gameplay experience. Jade Empire will be published by Microsoft Game Studios exclusively for the Xbox video game system with a planned April 14th 2005 North American release, with worldwide distribution to follow shortly thereafter.
Jade Empire will include such great and compelling features as:
Epic story set in a world inspired by the myths and legends of ancient China.
Jade Empire immerses you in a deep, rich storyline in the tradition of the BioWare-developed Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Sinister events upset the peaceful harmony of an isolated martial arts school and draw you into a story that unfolds with drama, action, and adventure. Detailed followers and other non-player characters enrich the adventure by providing comic relief, rivalries, flirtations, and hostility. Stare in awe at the sweeping views of the lush environments, sheer vertical drops, and overpowering scale that provide the visual backdrop to the story. Confront wild outlaws, demonic incarnations, and other foul villains that protect the Jade Empire's darkest secrets.
Become a martial arts master
Using the knowledge gained in crafting multiple story-based role playing games, BioWare sends you on a journey to become a martial arts master. Choose a character with a unique appearance and quirks, a custom voice set, and a powerful combination of ability scores and fighting styles. You can choose to act for good or evil, and these decisions build your reputation, which precedes you throughout the land, changing the course of interaction with other characters and followers. Take the role of a master of martial arts, and recruit followers to your cause in an interactive, living world.
Innovative fighting system
Master fighting styles and mystical powers. Jade Empire provides a gameplay experience with the tempo and fury normally found in Hong Kong cinema favorites such as Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and the Bruce Lee classics. As you journey through Jade Empire, you can upgrade your starting combat style or learn entirely new styles to tailor a character for your specific gameplay preferences. Select from dozens of fighting styles, including (for example) martial arts styles (Legendary Strike, Leaping Tiger), magic styles (Tempest, Dire Flame), transformation styles, and weapon styles (Twin Axes, Staff, and improvised weapons like chairs).
Each style has its own tactical role and attacks that range from punches and kicks to weapon strikes, mystical powers, and even transformations into supernatural monsters! You can focus on a narrow channel of styles and become dominant in these forms or broaden your area of study to include a wide variety of styles adaptable to many combat situations. Combat is fast-paced martial arts action, and it is exciting and tactical as you rapidly switch fighting styles to meet diverse challenges.

The regular edition of BioWare's epic action-RPG game exclusively for Xbox hits store shelves April 14. However, available for pre-order today is a Limited Edition of Jade Empire that will feature:
A playable bonus character - Monk Zeng
A bonus fighting style - Spade Staff
A behind-the-scenes "Making Of" video feature on DVD produced by G4 Tech TV
Holographic Packaging
Same price as the regular edition of Jade Empire
The bonus character, Monk Zeng, has the ability to channel his Chi, or spiritual energy, to fuel powerful magic attacks that manipulate both elemental and spiritual forces. Monk Zeng can equip himself with a special weapon called the monk spade, a deadly weapon useful for slashing foes at a distance and finishing them with lethal follow-up attacks. The Jade Empire Limited Edition is available for pre-order now for the same suggested retail price as the standard version

man I can't wait.. it's a like a slimmed martial arts version of ninja gaiden + the rpg factor like StarWars KOTOR!!!
imagine.. one day.. all games will have a lot of cool genres mixed into them.
this one is a good example. ACTION/RPG/ADVENTURE!
rock on!
I'm buying this game for sure. Great Games MUST be supported and the developers sure deserve it.
Cheers!!

You cant say its a great game when you havent played it yet. I've seen the hype for awhile now. I honestly dont think its going to live up to its expectations. Martial Arts and RPGs have been done before. Like Matrix Online. We'll see what happens. I could be wrong because this is "Bioware". I liked KoToR but I hated KoToR 2. Maybe Bioware will show us something much different in this game other than mixxing genres/elements from other games.

HOLY FLYING MIDGET COW
IGN REVIEW 9.9
Another Take from Hilary Goldstein
"It's a strange thing to consider, but I believe David Clayman may have underrated Jade Empire at a 9.9. There is no such thing as the perfect game, but there are a few rare gaming experiences that so transcend any failings, they might as well be considered perfect. KOTOR was easy to love, but it had a lot of faults. The genius of that game so outweighed the annoying issues that it remains a classic for just about every RPG fan. Guess what -- Jade's story is better, its combat system superior and its morality system is more complex than KOTOR.
If there's anything to work toward for a sequel, it would be to add far more Wuxia elements. I want fights atop the trees of a bamboo forest and running atop the heads of a villain's minions. The morality system, while more rewarding then KOTOR, is still much more enjoyable as a follower of the Closed Fist. The only thing an Open Palm is good for is a bitch slap. And that's about where my gripes run out.
In an industry where story is often secondary, BioWare continues to prove that a great story needs to come first. Yeah, the combat is sweet, the visuals are slick, and the mini-games are a blast, but when people talk about Jade Empire five years from now, they're going to talk about the story. There are so many twists and turns that no one will be able to anticipate all of them. I almost feel like going back and lowering the scores of every other RPG on Xbox. Yes, Jade is that good."

Game Makers on G4TechTV showcased the development of the game and, though IGN tends to overrate games, I must I can't wait for this apparent masterpiece.

I always liked Gamespot, til I saw their review on Splinter Cell: Chaos theory 8.6, wtf!??!?!
I think that reviewer was on crack, if you read his review the argument doesn't match the score.
I know IGN can overrate games, but I trust them, same thing with teamxbox. Damn what was that reviewrs name on games spot, gay kelvin something.

Probably my favourite aspect of KOTOR was the characters and the way they interacted, I thought it was fantastic.
Apparently the characters are even better in jade empire, coupled with the amazing fighting and everthing elseI think I might splooge the first time I boot this baby up.
