Raccoon gets head stuck in metal grate The raccoon became stuck in a metal grate after trying to enter a storm drain (Picture: Barcroft) One pesky critter threw caution to the wind and decided to take the road less traveled. A Raccoon in Santa Cruz, California, couldn’t resist exploring an enticing storm drain when he was out doing whatever it is raccoons do. Unfortunately for our hero, his head became stuck when he tried to squeeze himself through the metal grate covering the drain. But don’t worry, local emergency services weren’t going to let this improvised vice become his tomb. After sedating the animal the crew freed the animal using a grinder, but not before snapping one of the better mugshots of the year.
