Quote: | The classic Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, one of the most influential games of all time, and arguably the finest entry into the Castlevania series, has received an ESRB rating for PC.
The 1997 original PlayStation game released on both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360, but that is as recent as ports for the game get. |

One of the best sidescrollers ever made...but I think by this point every PC gamer has played it on an emulator. I can't imagine what kind of incentive they would give to make people want to buy it.

Seems a strange choice of a port, though it's about time CV came to the PC properly. We haven't a CV title since... well... Castlevania back on DOS.
(no, I don't count God of War of Shadow of Devil May Cry)

Why? 1st one is one of the best Castlevania game ever made.
As for that game - it doesnt make much sense now. Would if it happened to be some great looking HD remake but obviously it wont be.

Well, for starters they could finally bring all pieces o content scattered amongst PSX/Saturn into one (which they failed to do with PSP version properly) + they could try to make proper HD remaster.
Just image - a FUCKING PROPER AND PRETTY HD VERSION OF SOTN for PC.
Day -1 pre-order.
You can't fuckup such simple port... right?

I doubt they would ever do a full HD remake. All the Igarashi-era Castlevania games have a bunch of reused assets, some from as far back as the SNES days. So either they were lazy or didn't have the budget.

Laziness or rather not thinking it needs to be updated. Assets are not that expensive to make when it's 2D - especially when you got skilled 2D artists who should be able to churn out entire scenes in a single day.
