10 USD for alpha (50% OFF) http://sites.fastspring.com/ranmantaru/product/arcane-worlds?action=adds

Color me interested. Loved Magic Carpet, and this looks and very much sounds like MC. Now rip the soundtrack from the original and I'm game.

$40,000 goal
Quote:
Unfortunately, the Early Access sales are quite low now, and not enough to fund the development up to the release. I can get a part-time job to pay the bills, but that'll seriously slow down the development, and I'll have to cut a lot from the game too.

Getting funding from a publisher or an investor is an option too, but crowd-funding is better since it's less limiting creatively, so I'd like to try IndieGoGo first.

I won't abandon Arcane Worlds, even if the IndieGoGo campaign won't reach its goal. I really want to create a Magic Carpet remake and expand on it, and I owe it to the people who already trusted me by purchasing the game on Early Access. So here I am, asking for your help to let me finish the game, and hopefully, make it great.

Quote:
The amount I'm asking for is the minimum to finish the game. It'll be smaller than I'd like it to be, I'll have to cut corners and add some less significant features post-release, but it'll be a complete game with a story and several endings.

Most of the money, after taxes and campaign-related expenses, will go to paying my bills (rent, food etc.) while I work on the game for about a year. I already have the software to make the game, so there's no need to purchase anything else.

If I get more than I'm asking for, I'll expand the game, so it'll take longer to finish, but it'll be much better. I might also do some features (like multi-player and Linux/Mac ports) earlier.

After 4 Days he has only raised $70 from 3 funders. Kinda sad, this game has lots of potential.
It has been updated very slowly with the dev working on it full time, can't imagine how slow those updates will come if he has to get a Job.

There is a Demo available http://store.steampowered.com/app/269610/

I've seen so many failures on Indiegogo, makes you wonder if it's not really a good site for game funding

Lower exposure than Kickstarter but Kickstarter currently only supports a few countries so for some it's the only option.

I got the game via a 'mystery key' Laughing It's very basic right now, but it does indeed have potential.
