Valkyria Chronicles is set in a fictitious continent reminiscent of 1930s, Europe divided in two and ruled by the Empire and the Federation. The Empire has set its sights on invading a small neutral country called Gallia, which is situated in the middle of the two great empires. The game follows a hero named Welkin and his fellow soldiers of the Federation's 7th Platoon that are fighting against the Empire, who is intent on unifying the continent under its power. The Federation discovers that the Empire possesses a secret weapon, known as the 'Valkyria'- an ancient race with special powers thought to exist only in legends. With this new discovery, the fate of the Federation's ability to win the war and a hope for a better future hangs in the balance.
- Epic storyline - the struggle for freedom, as the fate of the world lies in the hands of Welkin and members of the 7th platoon
- Customization - Over 100 customizable characters let you create a variety of platoons to suit each battle's needs
- Beautifully rendered battlefields - explore 30 different environments, using each terrain to gain advantage in battle
- BLiTZ (Battle of Live Tactical Zone) System - Combining turn-based RPG gameplay with 3rd person action games, the BLiTZ battle system lets you battle with direct control in action sequences just as in action games, while also maneuvering through the vast world with strategic moves typical of tactical RPGs. The battle is turn-based between the Player Phase and the Enemy Phase
- CANVAS Graphics Engine, created exclusively for the Playstation 3, brings a never-before-seen style to life. Breathe life into stunningly unique visuals similar to hand-drawn illustrations, and immerse yourself in real-time battles in environments resembling a watercolor painting in motion

Yes, this game is bloody marvellous, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The combat is quite unique, highly tactical and yet very involved. It has a unique style; it's a WW2 setting with all "combat areas" from back then rolled into a single continent (wonder what the windmills are based on ), but they do so with an oil paint-y Japanese visual style. It's this visual style that made Killercrocker immediately go "I don't like JRPG" - your loss if the style turns you off, because the game itself is not an RPG by any means, let alone a JRPG. It's well narrated, it has a good progression system. Right now I can't really think of any serious flaws, but it's been a while since I played it.
And the visuals are only going to be better when rendered at 1080p (PLEASE SEGA) with some AA (PLEASE SEGA). Its style is one of those styles that not only ages well, but is also easily made even better by simply making everything a bit more crisp.

Damn i hope it comes out before Christmas i really want to gift it to some friends and family.
Since Sega knows their shit when it comes to Pc ports i doubt we will see another disaster like FXIII i mean even their classic releases of old games like phantasy star on steam where top notch not to mention new games can't remember a shit port from them.

yea it was a really great game, one of the best srpgs i ever played, even though i never liked the genre alot. story-wise its basically ww2 mixed with some other events of history, set in an alternate world.

Isn't disaster a bit of a big word for the port of XIII? It could have been a lot better (if they weren't so lazy ), but it's still ok tbh. At least I've seen way worse ports than that one.

Well damn, this sounds great to me. I must admit though that as soon as I watched some videos on YT, I raised my eyebrows a little, because I'm definitely not a fan of this anime-like art design. But if the gameplay is really tactical and not jRPG-ish, then I'll definitely give it a whirl.

Aye, the port of XIII is far from a disaster; it's a working port at least, and even if it's not top-notch, it is definitely playable.

Not a bad price. I got it for $20 brand new about 7 months ago and that's ages after the initial release.
