“As the player explores the tiny settlement, gathering clues and memories, and unearthing the truth behind a terrible tragedy, they will learn more about the history of the village and its inhabitants. And they will come to see that behind even the most innocent of facades lurks the potential for malice. But there is more to this place than meets the eye.”
“From time to time, a woman in black can be spotted in the distance. Who is she, and what is her connection to this place? Who is the little girl singing broken lullabies as the sky begins to darken? And when night falls, and those last few, precious drops of kerosene in the lamp feed a fragile, flickering flame, what hides out there in the darkness and in the cold, black sea?”
The whole thing is rooted in Scandinavian literature, choosing to focus on Norwegian nationalism as seen through the eyes of an American scientist. Makes sense, given that the game was whispered into being by a $144,000 grant from the Norwegian Film Institute. I bet they’ll be mighty upset when they have to play this movie, but I suppose it’s their fault for not reading the fine print.
Kidding aside, Draugen looks mighty promising, and I’m pre-chilling my bones by leaving the refrigerator open all the time in anticipation of its arrival. According to Eurogamer it will support Oculus Rift and be out sometime in 2015. Also, it’s going to Kickstarter soon, because $144,000 (sadly) isn’t actually that much in the world of biggish-budget game development. Do you say affirmative spooky “booOOOoooOOO” to that, or regular negative boo to that?

Well i still have not played Dreamfall chapters but this looks really interesting and i liked Tørnquist's writing a lot in the games i played (Longest Journey+Dreamfall and Secret World mostly) art style is also very pretty and i'm a sucker for psychological story's so i think i will get it over the weekend.
I thought the game was okay. Pretty relaxing and I found the story far more interesting than either Firewatch or Gone Home. But massively underwhelming compared to TLJ and Dreamfall. Really wish Ragnar had just focused on The Longest Journey: Home.
Completed... its barely 3 hours long. It doesnt suck, kinda agree with stormwolf.
At the end of the credits it was said "they" would be back... in form of what? 15 dollar dlc?
What's the twist? Female protege is just in the protagonists head?
And thats the entire game. We saw hints of supernatural things. Boat vanished, doors slamming, footsteps upstairs, church bell ringing on its own, but they went with the good old "its all in his head".... terrible. There is no originality here, i thought it was a joke by the time the credits started.. they even teased something in a mine. A discovery that took the life of someone cause it had to be kept secret. The mine collapsed on the way in so the player had to run out and ultimately didnt find out anything other than it had something to do with viking treasure.
What, seriously? Man they should have put some effort into hiding it at least. Based on the blurb and the trailer, this is the most obvious 'twist' that came to mind. Especially with how 'happy' the female character was acting in what's supposed to be a thriller.

It was called Draugen and i try not to spoil myself. I was expecting a horror game of sorts. Not this.... Whatever the fuck it is.
I went into Draugen’s world not knowing what to expect and I left it not knowing how I feel about it. The story had more to offer than what is on display and this makes for a less memorable experience than other adventures from the same league.
