Am I reading this right? Starforce cracked? How long has the game been out by the way (for reference on how long it took them to crack it)?

@escalibur: yeah, shit game, but always interesting to see Starforce cracked. Cool

It's probably just because I'm old enough to have spent a crazy amount of time playing Star Control 2 back in college, but I love both of the Space Rangers games.

And yay for Reloaded, now I can clean all traces of StarForce shit off of my machine.

So true... Didnt get the Sp2 run at first thanks to Sf but god damn, even the first game rocks all the other releases ive played so far this year.

I would love to hear those who say its shitty game to explaing what exacly sucks. Ok, graphics may look bit old school at start but jesus, what other game manages to mix space economy/combat/strategy RPG with text adventures/RTS/old school arcade shooting and actually succeed.

If i remember well, the first unpatched version of SCCT was 3.4.76.0 or something like that but it went higher (3.5 and 3.6) with the latest patches.

From a review: (and there are plenty more)

I had Advance Wars: Dual Strike, Radiata Stories, the online client for the Spycraft CCG, and a ton of other games to play and review. I was playing them before Space Rangers 2, and after I installed the game, I basically didn't touch any of them again until after I had beaten Space Rangers 2. After I had purchased the game, I replied to the guy with the MIT alumni address and told him, "Well, you've now completely sidetracked my review schedule." Not only is the best game I've played this year...it probably just cracked my top 15 games of all time.

OK, I played it for 1 hour.
The RTS part is OK for me, but I am not the space flying kinda person.
You must fly from planet to planet to ask for a job.. than you play a RTS mission.
Mmm, if it was only RTS , I should like it a lot more.
But that is my opinion.
There will be people who like space levels.

The RTS game is a very, very small part of Space Rangers 2. In fact, if you're a turn-based purist you can tell the anyone who offers you a RTS mission to piss off, and you'll never get offered one again. I hate RTS games, but I don't avoid the missions in SR2 because it's pretty well done. You can automate a herd of the best possible bots to go around capturing bases while you control one of your own in 1st/3rd person mode.

In other words, if you buy the game just because of the RTS part, you will be disappointed. The game is all about the space part, and getting your ship equipped so that it's up to the task of fending off the Dominators' invasion.

Here's a FAQ about the game if you need help getting started -- http://www.octopusoverlords.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=16820
