The first one was cool. I enjoyed it a lot. Let's see if I find a review somewhere. I'm only seeing previews at the moment.

GREAT!
I just downloaded and played the demo an hour ago, got ready to wait until early march for the store release and now Vengeance made my day.

Ok i just played the demo, I quit after 30 seconds. Can anyone tell me why this game is good and why i should play It again? Gameplay seems very very cheap.

I never could get into the first one despite all the rave reviews everyone was giving it. The whole comic book feel...bleh. But I guess if your a fan of comic books and stuff it could hold some appeal.
Anyone care to post a minireview?
This is VU games were talking about..so prolly just run of the mill shite.

I actually wonder if this one's standalone, or if it's an expansion requiring the original game? The website doesn't really say it clearly IMO...

No it's not, there was 1 "mini" freedom force expansion which had about 4 extra characters. this is stand alone just got through installing

you control a "team" of comic book chracters (each made up for the series no marvel shit going on here). it has RPG elements in it, you choose how to develop your heroes and its kinda hack and slash. you can jump on rooof tops and go undercover etc. save hostages. all in all its a good game im not a big fan of RPGs but this is one series i like

Alright, I'm past Mission 1, so here is my mini-mini review
Pros:
Style - The artwork and overall style in this game is extremely well done. Textures are smooth and slick, animation is good, and it really brings across that 1950s feel both in character types/story.
Interface - Very cool interface in my opinion. You'll master it within minutes, it allows for complete control and no misclicking. Works very well. Every time you right click to bring up your powers bar, it autopauses until you select what you want to do, so no frantic clicking.
Ergo, you do exactly what you want, every time, no mess n fuss. They nailed this nicely. Also, everything you mouse over (powers, environments, npcs), usually gives a detailed description as to the effects/info/hp etc. Conveys info very well.
Original Characters - I never played the first one in depth, but from what I have come to understand they reuse some of the characters from the first one. By original however, I mean each superheroe concept is pretty cool. Each one comes with a written backstory, as well as a comic book cutscene type movie detailing how they became heroes. Very nice roleplaying touch.
Environment - Buildings crumble, streetlamps get ripped, shit gets smashed, and all of this beautifully rendered. The environment feels 100% interactive. Huge plus. Plus its fun to wreak all hell once in a while and sit back and enjoy the show =)
Cons:
Cheezyness - Don't get me wrong, I understand what kind of feel the game is trying to recreate, but I think they went way overboard with it.
Its so cheezy, its almost unbearable at times.
Superhero: "Oh no! Look what those thugs are doing to that poor citizen! I must stop them in the name of law and righteousness."
Thugs:"Hah! Bring it on lady!"
Ok, in the name of all that is holy.....stop this. Its just..ugh bad. Hopefully the rest of the game tones down on it...cause its unbearable for me.
Easyness - Seems a bit too easy and simplistic on Normal difficulty. Bet this can be resolved by upping the difficulty (comes with 6 or 7 difficulties, from Novice to Impossible).
Undecided as of Yet:
Gameplay - Haven't progressed far enough into it to give an informed opinion yet. Will report later.
Sound - Played with the sound kinda low, so missed most effects etc. From what I did hear though, it wasn't anything too special. Will turn up the volume now and recheck it though.
I'll give more comments after a bit more playtime with it.
Sofar though, my verdict would be: enjoyable if you liked the first, are bored as hell (during this release drought), or are looking for a uniquely styled rpg.
However, BEWARE THE UTTERLY CHEEZY Dialogue, Setting, and Story

I'd like to rescind my previous statement of easiness. I am now getting my ass handed to me thoroughly.
I must really be missing something here...perhaps I needa micromanage more. Tutorial was piss easy....but Cuba is kickin my arse.

Well, what pisses me off to no end is the fact that one stray shot, and pretty much the entire fuckin screen blows up , all heroes insta killed. Fook that.

Uhm , its got Direct IP/LAN/Internet play, as well as some option called Rumble Room. As far as whether coop is availalbe, I don't think so.
I hosted a Direct IP game (4 players max), and under modes I saw Team Deathmatch + Variations, Arena, Deathmatch etc but no co op. Could be wrong though.

I would've liked the first one better if not for the horrid interface. When you get to play with more than one character, you can't control them with any degree of strategy. Hopefully they fixed that in the sequel.

I've noticed that as well. You pretty much have to pause after every round and reclick the attacks you want them to perform (those that use energy), else they just use their default attacks, which aren't always too useful.
Kinda a pain...but once you play for a bit you figure out how to get em to work together well.
