To sum up my inspiration in two words: Yu Suzuki. I'll consider Drift Stage a huge success if we capture even a fraction of the magic of some of my favorite Sega arcade racing games: Super Hang-On, Daytona USA, and the under-appreciated OutRun 2006 just to name a few.
Those classic arcade racers were simple immediate fun from the second you started playing but also offered a lot of challenge for those interested in shaving off seconds. That's not really the way most racing games are made now. These days, you typically either get something like Forza Horizon that has one foot in the sim racing world and a learning curve to match or you get something that swings hard in the other direction like Mario Kart 8 that maybe eschews a bit too much depth for the sake of being accessible. There are definitely some amazing games in both of those camps, but I want to give the middle ground some more attention with Drift Stage.
I don't really have the energy to work up a huge post right now, all templated and whatnot, so just a couple of links/images/quotes. Dat music though! Just like the, frankly amazing, 90s Arcade Racer (which I'm sure we had a thread for, but I can't find it) - this looks like it's set to tick all the boxes for some retro/nostalgia fueled OutRun loving. I'm really interested to see how this progresses.

I swear to god i will soon build Pentium II + Voodoo 2 setup as main gaming rig, since all we get is pixel shit for PC (tho this for sure raises the barrier to around PSX levels). Oh wait, these wont run on Pentium II + Voodoo 2
I asked the guys to take the gun off your head but they don't want to do it, so, you will have to play or get your brains blown. Sorry, you have no choice here.

EDIT: When I click on download windows demo in Chrome there's a pop-up saying "thanks for downloading ... share this demo, a bunch of other apps in a grid ..." and that's it. No download.
Thx man! But still, why wouldn't it work in the first place?
No idea. If you want you cananalyze the traffic with Wireshark or get some http sniffer. Otherwise just guess. May be cookie error or some extension fucked up.
So... We make lulz of the likes of NFS, but we LOVE of this, when there is basically little difference between the two, just one evokes some sense of "nostalgia" for terrible games. Meh.
