Quote:
The 87th Annual Academy Award nominations have been announced with both "Birdman" and "The Grand Budapest Hotel" leading the pack with nine nominations each.

Also faring well were "The Imitation Game" with eight; "American Sniper" and "Boyhood" with six; "The Theory of Everything," "Foxcatcher," "Interstellar" and "Whiplash" with five; "Mr. Turner" with four; and "Unbroken," "Into the Woods" and "Wild" with three.

The surprises here weren't so much in the inclusions but rather the snubs. The most notable snubs were in the acting categories including Jake Gyllenhaal in "Nightcrawler," Ralph Fiennes in "The Grand Budapest Hotel," and David Oyelowo and Ava DuVernay in "Selma". Also unexpected? "The LEGO Movie" is NOT nominated for Best Animated Feature, "Life Itself" isn't up for Best Documentary.

personally i really liked it, but who knows if you would. i thought it was pretty big on feels, and - at least to me - didnt feel too kiddy focused like other animated films do. definately had more laughs for me than other animated ones did, id give it a 7.5/10

but id give dragon an 8-8.5 for comparison. its the better film, but hero was a bigger surprise for me since it came out of nowhere and gave me more laughs than dragon.

Like every year, I can't comment on almost anything just yet, because I'm still waiting for the blue rays from space grinhurt (except for Grand Budapest Hotel, Gone Girl and a few more that I really enjoyed).

This made me smile though:

Very Happy

Lack of even a nomination for Gyllenhaal this year robs this whole charade of any sense whatsoever.

It will be a travesty if the Grand Budapest doesnt win it.
Then again, its Oscars so it probably won't.

that shit made me mad... i thought oscars are supposed to celebrate the most popular film related things of the year, not just have a racially and gender diverse group... fuh-king face palm.

also, i dont think budapest really deserves to win, it wasnt THAT great.... but then the rest of the list is relatively weak so i dont care either way Very Happy
