An official announcement stated that The Creative Assembly has created a new ‘high-calibre’ team to create the first new Warhammer title, which is due for release some time after 2013. THQ still holds the license to Warhammer 40K however.

Warhammer Fantasy Universe games were in the void since Mark of Chaos/Battle March and the failed Mythic EA MMORPG. So it's a good thing that the Fantasy Universe is brought back in the public eye.

And anyone that grabs the 40k IP should grab Relic too. With THQ being in the state that is now, it might happen.

I just have low expectations from Sega to properly handle the Warhammer Universe.

If anyone grabs Relic, they better get the Homeworld IP with them, or don't even bother.

yep, sega has pretty good devs for being such a horrible publisher.
no matter how good a sega game is, it will always be outsold by any crap thanks to their terribly bad advertising and pr.

Great, so we'll be getting Warhammer games with fuck-all for post-launch support even though they're full of bugs, many gamebreaking.

Oh hell yeah! They really should try and bring out something worthy of the great Warhammer fantasy roleplay. This is the second coming of crpg! Hallelujah!

Umm...since it's under CA, I highly doubt they will do a crpg instead of a WH Fantasy Battles game.

I've been saying for a while now, if someone wanted to really make some money. . .
and you can laugh all you want. . . someone should take the Skylanders game idea and apply it to a game like War Hammer. Not the game itself mind you, but the concept of going out and buying "toys" (or miniatures) that then work in game.

The Warhammer Fantasy it's more suited for strategy gaming than the 40k Universe. Larger armies, huge battles. So in a sense, CA is right for the job. Depends what Sega will let them do with the IP.

I think Total War: Warhammer isn't far from the realm of possibilities. I've always felt like a fantasy TW is inevitable since Sega bought out CA.

Stormrise Rage I am glad the abomination that was CA: Aussie is long gone.

I have such high hopes!

Dark Omen, best game ever, almost. Very atmospheric and HARD!

I actually liked battle march too, it was okay, great voice acting and it was fun to follow the history and generally just be a part of the old world. I thought they did a decent job with the story and the units, but the combat was not exactly groundbreaking and a little bit lackluster. The story could maybe have done with a bit less linearity and options. But for a warhammer fantasy I thought the game was a must.

Oh my god, TW:Warhammer would be so awesome I'd ... I'd even consider buying it. And the last time I bought something that could be pirated was ~10 years ago.

" The Creative Assembly has created a new ‘high-calibre’ team "

So its not CA itself, but some newcomers.

LOL @ you guys. Yes the sky is falling. Yes it would be a lot better if the world never saw another Warhammer game, because it MIGHT be bad. This forum is so full of pessimists and naysayers it's amazing. It's like some of you think it makes you cool being negative. I guess haters gonna hate.

I remember Shadow of the Horned Rat, Dark Omen and the other Warhammer games as very good games. I played them to death and I got a feeling I liked them more than the average gamer. Personally I think it's going to become a fucking awesome game. There's just no one better suited to make a Warhammer game in my opinion. Not even Relic because they would just make it into another of those boring click-fest RTS games. The Total War franchise has so much in common with those old Warhammer games and the thought of seeing a modern Warhammer game on the TW engine is bloody sexy.

I'll leave you boys back to your hating now J Browman

Wasn't sure where to put this, so instead of opening a new thread, i'll just leave it here.

War 40k TBS - been a while since we have a TBS in the Warhammer Universe.

No.
But usually the iPad versions from Slitherine/Matrix are ported from PC.
This time they want to release the game at the same time, but still there's no info if there will be major differences, if any at all.

Well, the way it's phrased kinda seems like it's supposed to be a mobile game... Although I see the comma there, but still.

No, it's pretty clearly phrased. Kingdom is the first foray into mobile games, Warhammer is their first foray into fantasy.
