I play a lot of coop games with a friend and we recently played through Portal 2 together and we were absolutely in love with the whole remote view feature you can use in it. Basically you press a button and you can see exactly what your friend is seeing but in a little window down in the right part of your screen, see here for example (not my video, just one I found):

So my question is, is there any way to achieve this kind of thing in all other games with the use of applications?
We do all our coop in my home on my two computers so latency/network is not an issue. I've tried a bit of googling and all I've found is both of us Streaming to Twitch private channels and viewing each others streams.

That might work but it's not exactly the same (and it's not an overlay on top of my game) and it's a lot more demanding than one would think it should be for what I want. I feel like in the year 2020 there should be an easy way to do this no? Smile

So what I'm looking for is this:
1. Able to stream Video (perhaps also audio but don't think it's necessary) to another computer efficiently (as lightweight as possible).
2A. Able to overlay that streamed video on top of my game so I always see it (preferred).
or
2B. View that streamed video on second monitor (not as fun but obviously easier I'm sure).

Does anyone perhaps have any good idea? Smile I would legit love to have this, especially the overlay function. I feel like it's a game changer for coop and I wish it was in all coop games.

Now I just need the most performance friendly way to send video from my other computer to this one. I will try Parsec. I suppose both my computers will have to host and connect to each other or something.

If it's just to have them on one PC but watch them on another, you can easily do this with a Network group on Windows. Just share your movies folder and there were some other other easy enough network settings to do. I do this almost every day with downloading all movies on my PC and sharing them on the laptop downstairs to watch something (I don't watch TV Smile ) while we have a dinner.

That's what I understood. Then you said you wanted to watch TV shows and movies while playing games so I thought you wanted to watch them via the network.
Anyway, don't think Parsec is gonna work for what you want. It's only one way as far as I know. You and the connected PC see the same thing. The only way for both of you to play the same game with different characters is if the game has split screen or the action happens on the same screen like Cuphead. And you play on the streaming PC, the other one is "borrowing" either the keyboard or the gamepad.
I have tried to open 2 different games while streaming but it's not possible because every time I Alt+Tab from the game I am streaming it pauses the stream on the connected PC. Even with second monitor and creating different windows desktops, it didn't work. Maybe with 4 PC's it will work, when 2 are streaming and the other 2 are playing. Laughing

Alternatively both of you could stream from OBS to each other. There will be more lag, tho Sad

If they have dual screens (or use windowmode) i guess they could use the streaming in discord. However, not sure if both can stream at the same time.. anyone tried it?

Why would an unprofitable business model suddenly become free? Laughing This isn't some F2P shooter. This shit requires heavy-weight hardware and networking.

Im glad im not the only one who had that thought! Very Happy I was just about to say the same thing!
