New Union is a RPG TPS for PC from Best Way (Ru). Release is scheduled in 2013.
The action of the New Union takes place in an alternate historical reality. Confrontation between the Soviet Union and the United States, known as the Cuban Missile Crisis was resolved in 1962 by force. It ended in a nuclear war. As a result, a majority of the Earth's population perished, and nearly all of the territories of the planet had become uninhabitable due to radioactive contamination.
However, the Soviet Union was ready for such ending. Citizens, the most important companies, and organizations were evacuated into pre-built well equipped bunkers before the global crash. Rapidly sheltered under the ground socialist nation turned into a real state with its capital, named Pobedograd, for five decades.
Q: Will I be able to move around the world freely? How big is the game world?
A: The world available for exploring will be expanding constantly. The hero can move freely around the locations he/she knows, and as the story unfolds new locations become available. In general, the New Union delivers a lot of freedom for players. There is a global goal in the game, but how the main character will achieve it, depends primarily on the player. Your freedom will be limited by the global goal of the game only.
but what about English release if there ANY ? before we all get excited , We want to know if it is going to be released in english or not (any one knows russian ask the developers in there forum about that and tell us )
Heh, the guy on the radio is telling the precise time in various cities of the Soviet Union, I expected him to stop after Vladivostok (the easternmost timezone) but the last city was Red Anchorage
Didn't Russia owned Alaska 'til the second half or 19th century, when they sold it to the US?!
I think it's natural to regret that move. Think about all the oil that was found in the region afterwards....And imagine what the Soviets would have done if they still owned Alaska. Lucky for the Free World, the late Russian Empire wasn't that smart (otherwise, Europe and certain parts of US/Canad would speak russian).
Back to the game, they've lost me at:
"Do you plan to have a moral choice system throughout the game?
Some game quests might trigger some a moral choice that might affect the various plot lines. But the protagonist, an active Soviet officer, will definitely never join forces with the main villain."
So, basically, i'm the fraggin' paladin in a post apocalyptic world where everyone is hell-bent on survival. Way to survive such an world.

Actually the empire lent Alaska on a lease for 50 years, surprisignly it's the Soviets who decided to abandon claims to Alaska.
Not sure what is more sad, that has been true for a long time, or that you accept it as fact.
Each PC it's unique with different hardware and different software running. It was always harder to develop for computers than for consoles. There are other reasons like who develops exclusive PC titles, budgets, game scope, etc.
My main concern is not being "optimized" at release but rather will it be support after.
In ideal world, yes they should only release optimized games. I agree. But I'm sure, that if that was the only rule to follow, than we wouldn't have seen some of the best titles that were made exclusively for PC.
But hey, you can rest, because nowadays we have more awesome optimized console ports than true PC unoptimized games.
