So..
Windows 7 and Chrome.
Every so often ( quite alot infact ) I click on a link, another page to a forum thread. Never when I open a new page but when I click from there.. and advertising page pops up!!!

I can`t get rid of the damn thing.
Things I have done.

Re-installed Chrome and deleted everything. Uninstalled all plugins. Checked msconfig for anything suspicious and programs to see if anything is installed that shouldn`t be!

Anyone help? I`ve run malwarebytes and have Avira running etc..

It`s random. Sometimes, not all the time.. but often enough to annoy the hell out of me!

Things I don`t want to do.

Re-install Win7

thanks Confused Confused Confused

I remember in the olden days, those problems could often be solved by ad cleaner software from the web.

It has been quite some time since I had such problems myself actually. I'd probably just reinstall Win. Just to be sure.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

But I have a dual boot with Ubuntu. I don`t want to screw that up... because I know it probably will Sad

Bit drastic these days though? re-installing the OS. I`m going to move over to Firefox.. see what happens there..

Try Firefox+AdGuard.

Also do a full check with HitmanPro, it's free. And use Process Hacker to see if there are suspicious processes running.
