Well, it was not nearly as interesting as the previous one. This was more of a crowded getogether with games, rather than an expo. I sure am glad I only bought a ticket for one day instead of two.
It was still kinda fun, but I spent about 4 hours there and I saw everything. With lots of repeats...
There were a few highlights though. I went to the Valve VR dev session (took up 45 minutes of that 4 hours btw), and while they didn't show a thing, it was interesting to hear the tech team talk about what they had to face when developing the headset. I filmed the pre-QnA part of it with my phone, I'm uploading it now, but it'll be shitty, shaky, blurry, etc, so you've been warned. Might be better off waiting for some official video if you're that interested.
Just before I was leaving I bumped into Chet Faliszek (of Valve fame), so I managed to ask him a couple questions about the Steam VR. He confirmed that while it is developed as that in-the-room-walky-touchy-VR-thingy, it doesn't require you to have a big open room to use it effectively, you should be able to stay stationary and still have a complete experience. Also asked if we can use it as a simple 3D headset instead of the things like Nvidia 3D, and he said sure, it should be fine for that. Which is good news for me.
Other than that, I saw the ipad version of Prison Architect, and it seem to be working ok, also Chucklefish showed off Starbound to the public for the first time at an expo (even though Rezzed barely qualified as one), and saw a few more things that I couldn't be assed to try (Creative Assembly had a room to themselves, also a bunch of indie early access stuff, and a buttload of merch). The only other thing that looked of interest was the GW2 expansion, but that had a huge queue, so...
So yeah. The proper EGX was in an expo hall the size of a fucking airport hangar. This one was in an old market hall, with about 10-12 rooms. For 13£ it was ok I guess, I saw a few interesting stuff and managed to talk to Faliszek, but damn it was underwhelming.
Just a few pics.
The main entrance.
The main concourse.
The Valve session. The only actually big room, I was pretty much next to the stage, with only 3 rows in front of me, and a lot of seats behind me.

Eugogamer is a big bag of fucking crap!
Overcrowded, overpriced and if it was anything like the last time, lack of taxi service outside the event. Rezzed in brighton was far better, this is just well
Eurogamer fuck you
