I recently upgraded my PC and have now a P4E 3Ghz with 1024MB Ram and a Radeon 9500Pro. I made a fresh install of Windows XP and installed NFSU (Version 1.4) and the game runs worse on the new system than on the old system.

The problems are lags wich make the game almost unplayable. And these lags have nothing to do with the resolution or detail i select. So even at 640x480 with minimum details, these lags show up. And these lags only appear on certain parts of the tracks.

I have the latest drivers and have tried older catalyst but no luck. I have looked for some background processes, but so far no sucess. And NFSU is the only game with that problem. Anything else runs fine.

Somebody has any ideas what might be the problem?

Try to defragment your HDD, even after fresh install of everything, hdd is fragmented as hell. Give it a try...

I have some programs running in the background mcafee enterprise 7, kerio firewall. intel active monitor and logitech iTouch.
I have uninstalled all of these programs but it did not help. And i had all of these programs running on my old box and had no problems.
And i have xchat running all the time, but this has no impact on the performance.
I cant think of anything else.

do a spyware check...

Turn -

Antialising settings to OFF
Anisotropic Filtering to OFF
Vertical Sync to Off

In your GFX Card Settings if you can...
