I came up with an idea to create this thread while I was looking for 80's cyberpunk artwork. It's incredibly difficult to find any although there were plenty of search results leading to modern galleries.

Originally, different post was prepared to be the first one. However, I ultimately decided to start with 'Hostile Takeover' by Marek Okon - my favourite of all time.

Others aren't bad either:

Very talented artist who collaborated with studios such as Crytek, Naughty Dog, and Bioware in delivering promotional images for many popular triple-A games.

Looking familiar, eh? Now you know who's the author. Smile

80s/90s cyberpunk art is more distinct because it merged the literal punk culture with 80's pop style plus cybernetics and more vibrant colors.
Nowadays cyberpunk artwork is more gritty and dark with less punk style in it.

I tried to find some original and 90s artwork but it's hard. I would have to search for original artists from cyberpunk 2013 and 2020 handbooks (but that appear to be a secret too Mad).

Still you could search for some art from comic books like Visions 2020, Judge Dredd (but it's more postapo than cp but still in those times style), Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Metropolitan.

and:

EDIT: But searching for 90's sci fi artist would probably bring better results.

And there's also https://cghub.com/ , the biggest online collection of future/cyberpunk/steampunk art I saw thus far.

Indeed, I'm pretty sure you could make a good movie out of each one of these pics. But nope, Hollywood's too cool for this.
Better make more Marvel movies, reboo's and sequels that no one asked for!

Thanks for all the input and words of appreciation, guys! Smile <3

Initially, I was a bit worried starting this thread. I'm glad that it turned out to be a good idea.

@VonMisk Yeah, anything from 80's or 90's is indeed very hard to find. Almost as though it all permanently disappeared or never existed in the first place.

When it comes to dark and gritty style, I absolutely adore it. Wholeheartedly.

Nonetheless, I agree that there isn't much punk (aren't many punks?) in cyberpunk anymore. In the 80's the "social rejects" were the driving force of this genre. “The street finds its own uses for things.” - low-life's having access to high-tech stuff.

(Although images posted above may seems contrary to this statement, please keep in mind I've put a lot of effort into the refinement process. Wink)

ClaudeFTW

I'll be whoring those galleries and reposting the ones I like the most here. Very Happy (For the people who are not in the mood of doing the browsing themselves.)

I LOVE this kind of work. The design, the colours, the artstyle! Would buy a proper poster of it in a heartbeat.

That's... not true. It's not concept art for Cyberpunk 2077, that's Blade Runner rendered in CryEngine2.

The first image reminds me of the retro sci-fi work by John Harris.

The second one, though, is downright amazing.

The artworks posted here are either from "Necessary Force"- the last project worked on at Midway Newcastle before being shut down; or from "Neo Racer" - a side-project for Midway which never got past the conceptual stages.

At the end of the day, I'm really glad these projects never made it out to the surface.

Who would want to play it anyway when we have Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, etc...
