Hey i just tried Jade Empire and it wouldnt work on my one month old xbox... so i tried Rallisport Challenge 2... i knew this worked on my old xbox with Samsung drive and guess what it doesnt work either.
Something to do with drives in the new Xbox version, wont read DVD9 any more??
Shall i swap it for a Samsung drive and if so what was the best model, sdg605?
Yep thats the strongest drive you can get. The later Samsung drives dont play cdr's. But they do play +r which that (605) doesnt. So make sure your DL dvdr isnt +r. Youll have a hard job getting a 605, i cant get my hands on them at all. Best thing to do is put d9 games on your hardrive and run them from there. I have a new Samsung drive and it doesnt like dl games either bah!.
My old v1 philips drive doesn't plays dvd9 either but my sons crystal xbox with newer v2 philips drive does, so i nicked that one out of theirs and put it in mine. Tested with Metal gear Solid
just checked inside my xbox and the drive is Samsung Toshiba 605 made in November 2004.... so looks like newer drives cant read these discs. My old xbox had a samsung and it read DVD+R DL because i was playin Rallisport off it. Shouldve kept the drive eh!
