Trumps the best current PC's and xbox360. Wow, I'm stoked. And I've been PC game only lately. This might get me back into the consoles. I had to do a double take, and triple take of the controller but its grown on me. I'm starting to like the way it looks.
Think something should be added? Most video links are stream, know any direct download higher quality links? Let me know. If the mods dont thing this post is nesscary, thats fine delete or move it(or Sticky since xbox got one). Its more then just SS's announced.

Quote: | One of the most expensive consoles ever created, according to Japanese reports.
by Matt Casamassina
May 17, 2005 - According a an article published in the May 17th edition of Japan's Mainichi Shimbun, the PlayStation 3 could be one of the most expensive mass-market videogame consoles ever created. Officials from Sony apparently told the newspaper that PlayStation 3s would sell in Japan for "less than 50,000 yen each." That translates to about $465 US dollars.
Sony unveiled its next-generation console at the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2005. The beast of a machine utilizes the powerful Cell processor, a custom-designed graphics chip by Nvidia, and 512MBs of RAM for a quantum leap in performance. The system will also be the first-ever to support high-def movie-playback out of the box, taking advantage of the upcoming Blu-ray Disc format.
Sony claims that PS3 will be roughly 35 times more powerful than PS2. If Mainichi Shimbun is correct, gamers will be asked to pay a hefty price for the high-end functionality. |

BTW 465 USD = 368.645 EUR (for those who live in europe)

I bought the ps2 for £350 The day before release with 2 game, Silent scope which was later traded for ssx , and smugglers run or iss ( not the good one , The shitty arcade one).
Uk gets bumped as F*cking usual this proves , that makes it about £250 I think . £50 less than ps2 price at release

i can assure you that ps2 was released at £300 . ask at any ps2 based forum . 4 and a half years ago . and you could easily get 700 on ebay for them as i was tempted to sell mine . one went for 1300 just before christmas

A year from now that price will change(I hope), that technology will be out by then. I'm not interested in paying loads for it. I could see it happening though, wasnt the xbox $450 when it came out. Even still, the price will lower after its been out 6 or so months.
All the storys about how expensive consoles were are because people were early adopters, chrismas shopping and outside the US. I'm in the US and I'll wait on any system till its something I can afford(Prays for $300 or less).

I think I'm gona buy PS3 first before i buy xbox, I'm gona wait a bit for the Ps3 to be released. Ps3 controllers looks like shit, I like the feel of the xbox controlers, oh well.
I think these nexgen consoles might hurt PC games, anyone

It does look good, and the movie for Killzone 2 looks outstanding. But Why on earth did they design the controller like that? It looks like a bloody Boomerang. I hope some 3rd party company comes up with a better one.

Everything below €500 is fine for me, it's more powerful than dual 6800 Ultras after all. The PS2 cost €500-€520 five years ago, so one would expect to pay €599 for a cutting edge console anno 2006.
