I'll keep this short since I'm posting from my iPhone.

It's from one of the two developers of Super Meat Boy.
Comes on Steam, yay PC exclusive, this August.

Quote:
Isaac is a roguelike shooter based on the dungeon structure of Zelda (nes). At its core it controls like Smash TV / Robotron in a randomly generated semi RPG world filled with powerups items and special abilities.

More details and screens here: http://edmundmcmillen.blogspot.com/2011/07/binding-of-isaac-coming-to-steam.html

Also a preview: http://pc.ign.com/articles/118/1181717p1.html

Btw they are still together as a team and making their next Team Meat game but that's a personal project of one of the two dudes.

TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."
"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."
"Like Nothing On Earth"

I'm just not a fan of the whole sub-nickelodean cartoon style of their games. Personal preference is all it is. I'm sure it's a fun game to those who like that style. I wasn't a fan of super maet boy but it was popular as hell. Smile

The game is fun indeed , it starts slowly but it gets incredibly harder later on. It's nothing like SMB, since this one is a roguelike shooter where everything is randomly generated (bosses, maps, enemies, powerups). Definitely worth a try Smile

Very nice little game. Challanges you a lot, if you suck you'll die and when you'll die it is over. Randomly generated maps, which contain about 10 rooms or so, add lots of replayability. Sometimes some rooms are easy, but other times they are hard as hell. Game itself is not that long i think(judging by the map, have not made it to the end yet Razz ), but to get to the end you must not suck. Like ixigia sayd fun litte game if you don't have a lot of time to play anything else.

It's selling very very well. Super Meat Boy well!!

Quote:
So as you may know, The Binding of Isaac was released on Steam last week, and i have to say I've been very taken aback by the overwhelmingly positive and high review scores, even more so by the sales numbers that now rival Super Meat Boys release numbers. I never at all expected such a great launch and die hard fan base, especially for a game as odd as Isaac. As I've mentioned on my blog, since the game has superseded my expectations, i will be doing my best to give back to the fan base that got me where I a today and continue to support my work, much like we did with SMB.

First off, i just released the "Flash Demo" of Isaac on Newgrounds.com (http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/581168)
The Demo consists of 2 of the games early levels along with 8 possible bosses and 60+ items, enough to get your feet wet and i believe it gives a good sense of what the full game has to offer.

Second i'd like to officially announce that The Binding of Isaac will be getting a very large (and free) content update via Steam this Halloween.
The update will consist of 20+ new items, 3 new bosses, 1 new playable character, a few more achievements and a new "final chapter" for the people out there who have "finished" the game.
This final chapter should be a much bigger challenge.

This 2nd update is more or less my dream update, something i wanted to be able to do for release but knew it would push the game back another month to get done, so in a way on the 31st Isaac will become exactly what i wanted to release but didn't have the time to finish.
One of the many awesome things about steam is the ease of updating, so this should be a very seamless update for people.

Another great success story for a PC/Steam indie dev Smile

The biggest quality of the game is the extreme replayability, since each playthrough is unique. And people appreciate that Razz

I guess that's the downside to randomly seeded levels; sometimes you're thrown into areas with items you can't access -- so far I've seen a few rooms with treasure chests, but no KEYS to open them. The game is seriously fucked up though. This is the thing of nightmares Laughing
