Read it here: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/KingPatel/news/?a=127214

Vin Diesel's production company just launched its TV division and Diesel announced they will develop a series called "Merc City, which will follow the mercenaries and bounty hunters of the Riddick universe."

Meanwhile David Twohy, writer and director of the 3 Riddick movies begins writing the script for the 4th movie this December with the title "Riddick: Furya" (well Diesel typed it as Furia but I'm pretty sure he got it wrong).

Twohy has been saying since Chronicles flopped that he planned on making two more Riddick movies: one where Riddick passes through the Underverse and the final where he gets back to his home: Furya. Even when Riddick (3) launched he was still saying the same thing (about 2 more movies), as that movie didn't really progress the plot it was just a mini-reboot after the previous movie flopped. But if the next movie is called "Riddick: Furya" I guess they are skipping straight to the final part (unless they are doing Furya Part 1 & 2).

Maybe it's for the best because the success of those movies is far from certain and I'd hate for them to find themselves unable to find a financier if the next one flops. Also Diesel isn't getting any younger (by the time part 5 would begin shooting he would be in his 50s).

of course it flopped. it was an expensive sci fi film, that was a sequel to a low budget sci-fi cult b-movie and didnt have MARVEL ENTERTAINMENT slapped across it.

anyway as for that vin pic, pretty sure i saw that quite a while ago... and its not a big deal.. who gives a shit, actors go through this shit more often than people realise... and they always manage to get back into shape when it matters, because they have a pretty solid mindset when it comes to getting back in shape... its not a big deal, i think we all saw the arnie pics... and he looks fantastic now.

They have contracts that oblige them to hit the gym. http://www.mensjournal.com/magazine/print-view/building-a-bigger-action-hero-20140418

Quote:
An out-of-shape actor can force a director to recast roles, reshoot scenes, or use CGI effects, often at great expense. Once he is signed on for a role and a production schedule is set, the actor is expected to do whatever he has to to get in the shape required of his character. Fitness budgets are baked into most contracts; studios typically pay for trainers, nutritionists, and even home-delivered meals. Some studios make a point to hire their own trainers so they can control the outcome.

Last one was shit and I doubt Furya will be any better. Pitch Black had a unique and interesting style with it's own peculiar atmosphere. Chronicles was totally different (although I actually liked it a lot even though my opinion about it seems to be in minority) with it's own style. Riddick was almost like an indie movie with a poor script.

I've written this before in some other thread but they should just try to make something that resembles Escape from Butcher Bay (a great story in a great game).

The Riddick films make good money on home video. I doubt it's massive amounts of money, bu maybe adequate enough to give the franchise one more (final) chance.
