Nice Very Happy

I first heard of this like 2 years ago or more I think but was worried they canceled it.

As if pandering to nostalgia was anything new in video gaming, plus it's not like this could've been a very expensive project. Well, maybe it was for 3D Realms, relatively speaking. Razz

It'll have its share of customers, no doubt.

Haha dammit, I read Iron Maiden and was getting all excited Very Happy
Not gonna lie though, I'll play the hell out of this once (*if) it will be released in a somewhat final form. It's a cripple fight, but using ye ol' Build engine still beats any attempt at recreating vintage low-poly 3D in my book (yes Strafe and DUSK, I'm looking at you!)

I'm sad they are not doing a more modern game and instead still use the old engine.
But at least they did a good job so far with the game according to the video.

Exhumed / Powerslave was apparently quite good depending on port and such, this looks like a re-purposed Bombshell following criticism with the top-down shooter released some time ago.
(Which was probably trying to evoke memories of Raven and games like MageSlayer and Take No Prisoners back before Activision had them doing MPDLCPack ### for COD's.)

EDIT: And what do you know Iron Maiden appears to have made quite a awesome artwork with Power Slave, guess that's why the game is kinda known as Exhumed as well. Very Happy
(And there's probably a good song or two there too.)

It's that, but they expanded it to a full game instead of a little bonus.

I just finished Turok 2 EX, now I understand again why linear script corridors became such a thing in the 2000s Laughing All nostalgia aside, old games were a torture in many aspects and I'm glad that changed.
At least nowadays you can make very complex map designs that don't consist of copy/paste assets and endlessly duplicated foggy corridors, so it's way easier not to get lost.

-1000/10 for me. Performance is abysmal and no matter what settings I change, including using the classic renderer instead of OpenGL, it remains abysmal.

They're pushing the Build engine to the max I guess, is this eDuke (Polymer?) or their own version of it? (Which I think was being used by Duke Nukem 3D #2 when it replaced #1 on Steam due to publisher switching.)

At least far as I know about the engine and seeing the map complexity above that's a step above what you'd have in games such as Blood for overall size, complexity and the whole thing about room over room and other quirks.

Is it really such a complex map? Yeah it looks complex but for it mostly because the how it's renfered in build but trally I see one big area, a corridor two small rooms, another corridor, some mess and road on the right turning left and some area with stairs and two rooms.

GOG version out.

Completed it, short but fun. Compared to a lot of other shit out there, this is not a waste of your time if you like old school FPS.
