Funny how ubi goes (choose your gender) for every game, yet when they want a woman they remove that option. Don't get me wrong, i don't mind, just pointing out the double standard.
Man, they're really going out of their way to make these strong wahmen (or is it?) protagonists as fugly as humanly possible. And, as usual, not a single shred of gameplay shown. Wonder why that might be...

You'll have to collectively accept girls also do play videogames (not just the casual/mobile sort) and might want to be the heroes of the story much like it was for boys for 95% of games that have come out thus far.
I mean, it looks like typical Ubisoft crap and the heroine seems completely insufferable alright, but this "outrage" is reaaaally fucking funny to me.
Inb4 "yeah but not this kind of female hero", I agree the character seems impossible to like.
As to the comments about how not pretty enough she appears.. I dunno, but it makes me crack a laugh as well. I guess very high beauty standards are important to this audience ! (yeah, the same that'll have a purple alien looking character for shits and giggles)

I wonder ! Main reason was her character had as much depth as a pond to begin with + she was portrayed as very attractive/sexy back then.
The more recent series dissipated much of that but the franchise was already solid by that point, they could afford to go with some more believable story and characters - as long as it was solid in terms of gameplay, it was going to be a commercial success, and so it was.
But was the hype for these new games anywhere near the levels of publicity and celebrity as the first two-three games, back when you had Lara selling you Seat cars for example ? Don't think so.
All in all, if I want to be really amicable, this probably has half to do with the character being somewhat unattractive to begin with, more or less regardless of gender ; and then the other half is the character being too young/insufferable to adults (who aren't the targets at all).
I don't even get why people are saying Outlaws' protagonist is ugly at all, she looks like Panam..
But let's be honest for a second, there's also a separate issue people take with women protagonists since it's somewhat too omnipresent to them - nevermind the completely skewed ratio we're starting at, and even then it's just not much of an argument to begin with to me - character is either female or male and in each case, you'll likely be an overpowered Mary Sue..
I'm half trolling here since the circlejerk needed it, no need to start yet another circling discussion about it.

Yeah it's the only way to go (not giving a shit whether the protagonist is male or female) to me as well, but she does look to be really insufferable in that hipster/supposed to be young kind of way.
It might speak to audiences much younger than us, I honestly have no clue - as an example, I did find DMC's characters demanors super cool as a teenager, now I can only bear it as a corny attempt for over the top humor.. but if I have to be honest, a whole lot of it has become very cringe (not in a good way) to me now
If I were getting familiar with the DMC series now, I'd probably find the characters very obnoxious and skip every piece of dialog - could easily prevent me from trying the series to begin with.

Yeah, played sottr not long ago and got tired half way in of hotphobic eskimo outfits. And its so funny, its like these social engineers never been outside in the summer. Sure, its subjective but ffs, options you cunts.
No one has ever disliked a well written female character, but it's not like we are spoiled with that these days, instead we get obnoxious, unlikeable and terrible written female characters.
The worst thing is that it seems like theyre often written like that on purpose, we all know by now what it leads to - calling out gamers or fans of the franchise as this and that and then they get the sympathy treatment from MSM with big headlines about either racism or sexism.
"we had to go to therapy because of all the toxicity!"
Scepticism is through the roof every time its either a colored or a female driven game or movie, and they've caused that themselves, it's not because people don't like females.

Yeah, I was pretty sure the reply would be "no we don't have issue with THAT kinda female hero" (safe bet that it's going to refer to a 20-25+ years old piece of media..)
I'm kidding, most concerns voiced here are more than legitimate relative to each and everyone's desires. Again, they might not align with current teenagers anymore
However, whenever I read 'why did they make the female heroine so ugly ?' and all I see is a regular ass person or just a character that's not a pair of boobs/pecs walking (in this case the character is on the prettier side of things, unless your standards are very high), one can't help but think these people just want perfectly beautiful characters, preferably on the busty side when it comes to females. It's not necessarily mysogynistic in itself if the same standards are requested of male characters (pretty, muscular, tall and so on), naturally - although you can't help but feel an hint of vague "I want my women pretty" around it. Perhaps it's a straw man on my behalf.
There are Korean MMOs for that kind of criteria, though !
However, the skepticism by default whenever a female heroine pops up (in videogames specifically), while it may be justified out of experience to some degree, is really suspect to me. Perhaps there's no hint of misogyny in it, but it's not doing a good job at conveying the sentiment.
I'm half trolling (if that can be called trolling) to break the circlejerk/fuel the discussion but I don't doubt the vast majority of posters here are reasonable and don't need my lectures about it at all
But it's kind of fun fucking with the few others, not gonna lie

Please delete the word misogyny from your vocabulary. It's a word that's difficult to take seriously as it's used as a tool primarily to get what they want and shut up opposing views.
