I’m pleased to confirm that we are already into production of the starting point for Deus Ex: Universe with a new game for PC and next-generation consoles. We’re very excited about it at the studio and I wanted to let you know that most of the team behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution is already working hard on this new game.

If it is an open world single player game, I'm all for it. I've been dreaming for an open world Deus Ex game since Invisible War.

Let's just hope the "Universe" thing is a "series" title and not a game one, because as much as I'd love an open-world Deus Ex .... I would *not* love an open-world online Deus Ex. Still, damned good news - amazing news in fact - though I'm surprised it came with so little fanfare Very Happy

just franchise label
Quote:
The concept behind Deus Ex: Universe is to create an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games. It’s a commitment on our part to deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before. Deus Ex: Universe will include PC and console games, but also additional Deus Ex games and experiences available in other media such as tablets, smartphones, books, graphic novels, etc... You might have seen the name pop up recently in the press – well this is what it’s all about.

It took us four years to learn how to create a unique Deus Ex experience with Human Revolution and it was important for me to keep this knowledge within the franchise.

I liked the Deus Ex Human Revolution hub thingy with a bit of freedom to roam around and explore and do side quests. It was perfect for me. If they keep it like that, and expand a little, it'll be just as good. Very Happy

Yeah, I would say. Not even a gist of it anywhere, no hype, nothing. Just dropped like a bomb. But it is great news. The last game was somewhat disappointing to me, but better then Invisible War which was shit. Hopefully, they can further improve.

Great to hear, even if the new info is minor, they had said that a next gen Deus Ex was really something they wanted to do.

Highly agreed, it was linear, but still offered so much freedom to add on to the storytelling with whatever you do. If they make it just 5% better than HR, I'll be sold. So good and so underrated.

You have and not just with Human Revolution either. HR is great, it really is, but I feel far too many people give Invisible War a bad rap and it simply doesn't deserve the vast amount of disparagement and flak that it gets. IWs failings are the lack of RPG elements compared to DX (none at all) and the Xbox 64MB RAM centric smaller levels, these are legitimate complaints absolutely, but neither take away from the DX feel and tone of the game which is still very much in effect.

DX>HR>IW but IW is still definitely worth playing.

~edit~

Oh and universal ammo. A certain someone is going to a special place in hell for that.
