Project 007 (working title) is a brand new James Bond video game to be developed and published by IO Interactive.
Featuring a wholly original Bond story, players will step into the shoes of the world’s favorite Secret Agent to earn their 00 status in the very first James Bond origin story.

Makes sense. The new Hitman games feel way more like Bond/spy movies than Hitman games, anyway.
Makes a lot of sense. They have a really good engine (andd probably toolset). With the Bond IP, this could be very good. So long as they don't derp it down.
I think IO will probably be able to do a decent job with 007 but I am a bit surprised they got the license as I would think it would be pricey even though it has been a while since the last James Bond game. The real question will be if they model the character on one of the movie actors or do a generic James Bond of their own design or maybe the different actor's likeness become like 47's suits and you change you look that way.
Interesting choice, I think it can be good. The new Hitman games, while being a shadow of their past, are still decent (still need to play latest DLC mission).
While IO Interactive are (on paper) the right people for the job for the obvious reasons, there are so many question marks surrounding a project like this. I hope it will focus on a single-player story/progression that combines action and stealth without mandatory online-only environments, artificially mundane designs or various tripeA-y sins coming back with a bang surrounded by 007 Instinctvisions. And possibly not Sweeney-exclusive either, but that would probably be asking too much at this point

Yeah I can't see them passing up the massive bag of cash Sweeney would be willing to offer for the Bond IP. Especially given their new independent status, finances are probably tight.
Ah. Never knew that. Last game of theirs i found even remotely decent was Kane & Lynch and that was just for the shits and giggles of it. The newer Hitman games have all been boring as fuck. Dumbest fucking AI possible in a semi open world that you can just do dumb shit to win the maps, damn near almost 0 challenge.
