Hi, I wonder if anyone can help me? I know it's pretty old game, but one of good ones. I would like to play it for first time, but I found following problem:
I have win XP home ed. SP 2,direct x 9.0c,audio card Realtek AC'97,laptop

When I try to run game with sound, computer always stuck and after a while
shows me error msg: Abnormal program termination, and finishes.
When I try to run game without sound,it run O.K.,but who wants to play without sound?

I found advice in other forum,to disable hardware acceleration, but it didn't work and got the same result!!!

I know many people who plays that game on same system,so could it be problem in audio card? What u think?

thanks for reply

hi,thanks for replies!
Yes,I forgot to say: I use latest patch 1.05 for Max Payne as well as latest audio driver for Realtek!
There was solution in one forum, that one guy found out:
when he set card for 4.1 or 5.1 ,it run O.K.,when he let it on 2.1 it crashes.
But I have integrated card,so I cannot change this settings,can I?

Control panel --> sound and audio device, at the bottom you'll see a box with a pic of 2 speakers, click on advance something and you can set your audio settings there

Hi!

Rename the Movies subdirectory to something else. For example: Muvies.
