Quote:
"The ultimate depiction of the Three Kingdom. A heroic drama of a gathering of Legends." Based on this concept for Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13, we have compiled an experience that will immerse the player deep into the historically turbulent world of the Three Kingdoms, with "human drama," seen through daily interactions both on the battlefield and off between the many heroic characters of the time (all playable), "spectacular battles" shown in majestic battle scenes, "dynamism" expressed across the great land of China in full 3D as each character plots and battles to expand their territory, and much more.

Players will become one of the heroes that lived during the time of the Three Kingdoms and through their actions and decisions will forge their own unique history in that turbulent yet period.

In Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII players have near endless customisation choices, as they can take on the mantle of one of 700 historical characters (including such fan- favourites as Zhao Yun, Liu Bei, Cao Cao and more), or create their own unique character and try to climb the proverbial leadership ladder.

I've only recently replayed ROTK8 on PCSX2 and am very happy to finally get another ROTK in english on PC.
The most important thing for me here is that it's a character based romance game like 7, 8 and 10, not force based like 9, 11 and 12.
That means you can again play as a free officer, form relationships with other officers, join a force at some point, work your way up and eventually become prefect or viceroy or something.
It's those RPG elements that I like most in the Romance series.

I've played a few hours of this iteration and so far I'm enjoying it but it's a bit rough around the edges as expected of Koei.

Genghis Khan and Nobunagas Ambition was great Koei amiga games. Any newer versions of those? Or Bandits of Ancient China?

Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence, released september last year in english
http://store.steampowered.com/app/392470/

Felt too shallow for me though, just like the force based Romance games.

I guess I'm just a sucker for the RPG elements and character interaction because I've been playing these Romance of the Three Kingdoms based games for over 15 years.
I've formed a connection to the characters so for me it's fun to talk to Lu Bu or become oath brothers with Zhao Yun or whatever.

Yes, this is why I loved that PS2 one. My first RoTK game was for the PC back in the 90s, which was a shoddy English translation from the Chinese version. I played that game so much creating my own clan with soap opera drama between relatives dueling it out.

So if I bought this http://store.steampowered.com/app/363150/, this would have the English version yeah?

Same here, there is no other franchise that lets you do stuff like that.
I started as a low ranked officer, doing menial agricultural jobs for my city prefect, then after a few months i got promoted and got my own city, built it up and made it prosper.
my success caught the viceroy's eye, so he called upon me to assist him in the siege of an enemy fort, i took half of my troops and helped him seize it. Being thankful for my services, the viceroy gave me power over a whole region, i could delegate shit to the prefects in all these cities and control the regional policies. A few years later the viceroy was captured in battle, so the ruler gave me the title of the new viceroy. I played along and made the ruler happy for a few years, then started a coup d'etat and managed to rally around 30% of the kingdom behind me. The war went on for years, with me, now being the ruler of the new kingdom made up of separatists, duking it out with the old ruler. It was epic shit beyond anything I have experienced in gaming, and eventually so many of my close generals got bribed and turned against me, that one of them started his own coup and I ended up being executed. It was better written than the last got season. Laughing

Oh and btw, before betraying the ruler I actually got married to his daughter and fathered 3 kids, after my death I could continue playing as my eldest son.

Well Crusader kings does it, reason why I like the game so much. You create your own (fucked up) story.

Still ISOdemo the game because you'll probably get disappointed if your purchase is based of an older game in this franchise (goes with any of the Koei games tbh).

Exactly, and it's like I keep chasing Koei games just to relive these moments hoping for even more features to allow for more amazing stories you write.

Why did I miss out on that game? Is it like what was described? Like you can start out as a foot soldier or so? Tell me more.

Also excellent advice, too late for me though T___T

But oh well maybe some day Koei will be back to their awesome self and not milking their stupid musou

Just played hero mode (basically tutorial) for 2 hours and so far its definitely closer to older rot3ks like 7 and 8 than the later ones in comparison. It basically plays like a rot3k 8 in realtime.
While in 8 you could do a specific number of actions in a month or season since it was turn based, here time passes in real time but you can always pause it and give out orders, queue stuff etc. before unpausing it again.

It gets such bad reviews on Steam compared to Nobunaga's Ambition but often for no real reasons as far as I can tell.

It's mostly complete bullshit like this:

Quote:
Bad game
Don't buy this game,it like webgame and some webgame better than this sxxt

Quote:
The game is too slow oh lord.

Quote:
Too cluttered.

Quote:
Sorry, can't. Too ugly, controls too hard to deal with.

Quote:
Good gameplay + bad graphics = mediocre game
and then at its current price = refund

It's definitely better than the steam reviews indicate.

@Surray
It's even funnier if you look at the playtime of those dumb comments:
Often played for 17h+. Seems those slow retards need longer to realize, that this is not CoD. Laughing

Or people complaining about the price, AFTER they bought it. Laughing
It's like they are full derps that just press the Buy-button randomly.

Seriously, so many fucktards in this generation.

Yea i don't get the negative reviews, complaints are mostly about stuff that has been a staple of the franchise for decades, I can only imagine CoD cockfags complaining about not enough pewpew like Berb said.
As for me, I'm hooked already, wanted to try it for 10 mins quickly before going to sleep (yea right Laughing), ended up playing several hours and sitting at work half asleep now.

You make this game sound awesome man. Very Happy

Will see if i find the time soon to play this.
But i guess you can sink MANY hours easily in these kind of games - and probably must for maximum fun.

The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu reveals Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII with Power-Up Kit. The updated version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII will launch for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC in Japan this fall.

The game features over 100 new officers, including officers brought back from previous works, and new face graphics for existing officers.
]The following new elements are also being prepared:[/size]
Fame – A title-like element that shows an officer’s way of life and position, unlocked as you rack up achievements. By claiming fame, you can acquire unique characteristics and new actions.
War Council – An added strategy meeting before you set off to the battlefield to wage war against an opposing force. Here, the commanding general chooses a staff officer and decides upon strategy and officer use.
Battlefield Expansion – The size of the entire battlefield has increased four times. Things such as the amount of travel paths have increased, and the breadth of strategy, like initiating surprise attacks, has expanded. A tactics base has been introduced to the map, and powerful tactics will become available by gaining total control of it. Additionally, points on the map that were villages are powered up as “Strategic Points,” and their importance in strategy increases.

Development is currently 60 percent complete.

In the latest update of the game Romance of the Three Kingdoms 13 (-> Steam <-) Developers hung Denuvo . And apparently it is similar to the version we saw in Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 Beta .
EXE-files for the study:-> Link <-
Differences in the starting code, as well as snipers used the 64-bit version, and here we see 32-bit.

This also means that Berserk most likely will use that as well... And newest version is also 32 bit...

And Before anyone bash me:

It's not different then people reported Ubisoft added Denuvo to some of it's games like the infamous Heroes and Anno cases with updates, it not about reporting cracking progress it's about report the game uses the 'D' now, that's all.

Most likely no further posts from me will be posted about this until release...
