A lot of TV shows are coming out in 265 now, I recently grabbed Series 8 of Doctor Who (the Capaldi run) and they're all in 265. Fantastic quality, tiny filesize, doesn't play on my MK908ii device - on my old v13 XBMC they only played audio, on v15 it "loads" video/audio but runs at about 10fps and stutters heavily since my device doesn't have hardware decoding support for 265.

Seeing the quality and filesizes, I'd say they were on the right track.. fantastic quality with filesizes a fraction of what they are on 264. They play perfectly on my comp (obviously Very Happy) it's just a shame my device doesn't support them and is too slow to run SW decoding. Now I have to re-encode since I can't find a decent 264 set either.. meh. That and fucking Netflix decided to lock off HD playback on their Android client unless the device matches a specific list of "approved" devices... Rolling Eyes

I've got 265 videos and their filesizes are *tiny* compared to 264 equivalents, for same or better quality, that's all that matters to me. Since I cannot find this entire season in 264 to download, the discussion is moot, I have 265 and now I have to find a way to deal with them.. so I'm having to reencode to something my device supports. If/when more devices support 265 then 265 is absolutely the way to go - great quality, low file size, that's all that matters.

Right now the files I have are h265 and 500kbit video stream, comes in at 277MB and it looks fantastic. A 500kbit stream in h264 would look like RMVB in comparison Laughing I'm trying out 1500 (still yuck) and even that is 900MB.
