Quote:
  • Graphics made to mimic the style the Super Nintendo Mega Man X games, using all new tilesets and enemies.
  • The game's soundtrack is composed by Dominic Ninmark and is made to give the same feel as the SNES games but with a remixed touch.
  • X and Zero are both playable characters, with X relying entirely on his X-Buster and Zero on his Z-Saber. You can switch between X and Zero once you begin the main game.
  • The game takes place on a huge world map rather than in stages.
  • Certain areas will unavailable to the player with their starting equipment, much like a Metroidvania.
  • It features an elaborate skill system for upgrading character abilities and weapons.
  • Zero will have a special combo system, allowing him to easily string together attacks.
  • Much like a standard Mega Man X game, this one features upgrade capsules, hidden heart tanks, ride armors, and mini-bosses.
  • This game builds on the ability in Mega Man X8 to mix armor parts with this game's Phoenix and Hydra armors for X, whose pieces can be equipped and used immediately as they are found. It also features the Ultimate Armor, a separate armor used in X's intro stage.
  • Zero will have the ability to choose between his traditional "Black Armor", or the special "Viral Armor". He can not swap armors, picking one will make the other uncollectible.
  • Inspired by the original Mega Man X title, terrain on the world map will be altered when certain bosses are defeated.
  • Multiple levels of difficulty for challenge-seekers.
  • Instead of, "sitting in their boss room waiting to be killed", bosses will have their own missions that they will complete if the player hasn't stopped them, making the game harder.
  • Fullscreen mode.
  • Twelve different endings.

I've only just heard of this and it's still in development (has been since at least 2009 when it was first announced) but is apparently still coming.. so yeah. A full open-world/Metroidvania style MMX? Yes please!!

Seriously. This is looking absolutely amazing, I'm astounded that it's a fan game looking better than even Capcom's later MM entries.

I know, I'm surprised by that too.. who knows, perhaps this will become an official fan-game like Mega Man x Street Fighter did?

http://www.capcom-unity.com/mega_man

..... or they'll wait until it's closer to release and not just a series of "videos" before issuing C&Ds? Sega did that with Streets of Rage Remake, they knew and acknowledged the existence of the fan game and did nothing... until it was released, then they slammed the makers with a C&D.

So it was fine while it was only generating hype for the IP or something? Mad

God knows mate, no idea what the hell Sega was thinking, but hey.. a playtester (aha, or rather more likely one of the main developers Laughing) "leaked" the V5 build onto the net anyhow. Sometimes fans make games that are just better than the original developer versions... Streets of Rage Remake is one of them (supposedly not using a single line of code or a single copyrighted image, all drawn/ported/created by hand) and Mega Man X: Corruption looks like it will be another Very Happy

Mega Man Legacy Collection also got released. Not sure if there was a dedicated topic for it, but since collection is on verge of being a scam anyway, I'll not bother searching or stating a new one.

For 15 bucks on Steam you get emulator and first six NES Mega Man game roms packed into games exe, and then some original conceptart, savestates for bogus bonus modes, and some music rar-packed into another file that is actually password protected. Very Happy
 Spoiler:

Games are still stellar, and the emulator itself is good when it comes to accuracy with emulation of NES hardware glitches and slowdowns, so I was some kiddo fleeced by this scheme, I wouldn't be too angry about it, but it definitely could do with a bit more that few screen modes, one save per game, an option to turn off glitches and slowdowns for non purists, and maybe even a scaler or two.

So, the end result is a quickly thrown together collection that has the same value as a simple rom image and emulator.

If they'd at least included the X series too, that would have been well worth buying. A proper Mega Man anthology? Yes please. As it is, just the first basic NES titles? Emulated at that? No thanks :\

The emulator in the collection is actually crap, input lag and such. You're better off running the NES games on the emulator of your own choice. Smile

For that, they'd need to implement SNES emulator as well... Just think about the cost involved.

"official" SNES emulators have existed for over a decade, more even, considering FF 4-6 were all emulated on the PS1 versions of the games. Besides, I'm talking about the *entire* X series, including the PS1 releases Very Happy
