Why is this even a thing? Looks it's in the top results as well when you search. I've never once watched any of these reaction videos, so it's not been 'tailored' to me, also I turned that functionality off in google, and I block scripts too.
I searched for "metal gear solid 5 launch trailer".
Spoiler:
Why would anyone want to watch some completely random stranger's reaction to watching something else. Just watch it yourself and make up your own damn mind whether you like it or not. What do you care if someone else likes or dislikes it. Or how their adhd ridden persona makes them react on youtube to get those clicks. God fucking damn.
Why would i stroke my own dick while watching some guy/girl in awe after watching something i found awesome as well. I honestly do not get it. Utterly senseless. I don't care if it's an act or not.
Edit: This sounded more Supermaxy than i intended.
yea fuck reactions, especially when you re searching for videos like 2girls1cup, mrhands or bme pain olympics on youtube and it only gives you fucking reactions

"A tangled tale of sex, violence, power, junk food..."

And sometimes I think they watch just because its a 'thing' people do now. Like its a habit they cant explain why they even do it anymore some of the time...
For example, once I was broadcasting city skylines for my friend on steam because he wanted to know a bit about it before buying it. I just set broadcast on and left it..figured no one would watch.
After like 30 minutes I had 15 viewers...whats weird, is I wasnt talking on the stream, building anything, and sometimes not even moving the camera for like 10 minutes, and 75% of it was me sitting in one spot, pointing at random things (or random to the other people) as I explained to my friend what things was on teamspeak..and they STAYED and watched!?
For like 2 hours 15-20 people watched me wiggle my mouse around, point at random buildings, and circle my mouse around over menu icons all in silence to them...was odd.

I'm sure there are complex psychological reasons behind this non-animal-like behavior, but thankfully I fail to understand them.
It's something akin to the reality TV trend that was rampant till not long ago, with people spending hours and hours of their lives watching other people's and ending up not living theirs.
We are definitely not a bright species, as if that wasn't clear enough
People also watch sports, tv-series, films and porn.
I think main cause of the existence of fake videos that lure you in to watch it while you were searching for something else, it generates money. Not everyone uses Adblock.

@DXWarlock Does a Steam stream allow for chat between observers? Maybe they were just wondering wtf you were doing and having a laugh, but your story was a fun read.
The most hilarious stream I ever viewed was a WarZ one. This guy gets approval for a WarZ stream while all other streamers were NDA prohibited. He had a good cause for this stream, some charity fund for sick children. He also got 50 keys from the WarZ devs to give away.
He (sigh) managed to show all 50 keys on stream and they got stolen/used. Then somehow his WarZ account got stolen/hacked. He then took his CC to buy a new closed beta WarZ account and he managed to show his CC number on stream.
